On my 08 Apex ER in 4800 kms I have had the inside idlers wheels peel off the rubber three times now. Is anyone else having issue with these wheels. Seem to fail after a lot of higher speed running ( Cochrane ).Do the replacement spoke type wheels stand up any better?

Had an inside wheel peel off at about 1,200 miles. since then Ok, approx. 1,700 on it now. Dealer replaced under warranty, said it was the first 08 he had seen do this, not uncommon on the 06's and 07's.

replace with the skidoo idler wheels (503190802) 135mm w/6205 bearing, i replaced all six of mine on my 06' Attak when i first got it and they are as good as new after 4,000+ miles

I did the same with my RX-1 except i used the Polaris wheels. (5.35)
6000 miles on the wheeles and a couple bearing replaced but the wheel itself is still like new.

I have an 07 attak gt at 1000 km's after a high speed run the inner wheels delaminated. I replaced them with the spoked wheels and now have 3600 km's and wheels still good. At the same time my wheels delaminated my friends 08 LTx 40th also delaminated so it seems that the stock wheels are still junk IMO............

A million posts here regarding cruddy wheels, just do a search. The best fix is to go to an aftermarket wheel and not pad Yamaha's profits by buying these disposibles.

what aftermarket wheel kit should I look at for my 09 rtx? I want them on before it leaves the dealer period I plan a 2000 mile plus ride next winter an do not want any problems period

It's weird how some of the wheels crap out and others don't.

My 06 Nytro had one inner wheel crap out after 500 miles and my bro-in-laws Nytro hasn't had a problem in 2500 miles. My 07 Apex has 2400 miles without any wheel issues.

Not weird at all. Yammi idlers are junk and they will explode. You can prove this by doing some wot runs for long distance--say 5 miles or so. Then see whats left under yur skid.
On the other hand they seem to be OK for reg trail riding at regular speeds. Still junk but they will last longer if you drive slower.

Tudded tracks seem to be a common denominater. My riding buddy has had all kinds of problems with inner wheels (studded) and I have had no issues (unstudded) same miles, same machine, same riding habbits.

That makes more sense as I have had quite a few long wide open lake runs and the wheels still held together but my sled is not studded, either is my bro-in-laws Nytro.

Mine's studded, the wheels failed after some long wot runs on ice, with enough snow for slider lube. The last time out they both failed, and I was over 250 miles from the truck. To my suprise my sliders looked fine. The dealer gave me some of the spoked replacement wheels to try.My friends 07 GT is using the same studs and patern as mine, and his wheels held up fine

Yamaha may have had a temporary bad wheel source, but not all.

98 xtc 11000+ miles original wheels and bearings
98 xtc 8500+ miles original wheels and bearings
06 Apex 4500 miles original wheels and bearings

Sorry some of you have had wheel problem but don't think it is universal

Good luck

Yamadoo

I had 2 of mine replaced yesterday under warranty, 12 miles down the trail last night both destroyed. lol
Will call dealer today and see what they are going to do for me.
Drove doo's all my life may have replaced 4 or 5 wheel in all that time.

you may want to get warranty before 5000 kms. after 5000 kms the dealer/yamaha would not warranty my wheels anymore. mine delaminated at 5100 kms, during a run to cochrane. i agree the high speed thing has something to do with it.
note, if you are thinking of going to the 2 bolt wheel mount & still want warranty you may want to reconsider. i have cracked skid rails & they are denying warranty because holes were drilled in skid rail for low snow wheel kit. i'm sure they will deny if you add the 2 bolt idler wheel set-up.
just my 2 cents.
