Howdy folks.

I'm currently 23 years old and I own a 2008 fx nytro.
I have decided to take it to the professionals on this awesome forum that have owned and ridden these sleds.
This is my predicament,
My dad owns a 07 apex and attak, recently we went out to the UP and I took the attak to try it out and I really liked it. Our riding style is 65% trail 35% boondocking and ditch riding

my 08 fx nytro has mbrp exhaust 1.5 camoplast track with extrovert drivers.
the attak has a ulmer stage 1 clutch kit extrovert drivers ohins front shocks and skinz exhaust.
I realize the nytro is a rough trail sled and the attak is a trail sled.

I cant say I've been overly thrilled by the handling of the nytro over the 2000 miles I have owned it but it is pretty nimble in the ditches and I really like the power and jumping aspect but I just cant get the feel of the "rider forward" position and the lack of wind protection and storage space.

I was thrilled by the handling of the attak on the trails but the weigh was a hindrance in the powder but rider position and the sleds lay out made it easy for me to throw it around with still gaining control of the machine in my opinion. I like the speed and the power also having the ability to have storage and wind protection.
I feel the attak with a mountain bar and 1.75 track would make it a pretty good all around machine.

Any input would be appreciated.

A nytro that is set up properly will be a better sled in my opinion for what you want to do. Suspension set up plays a huge roll in the way it will handle down the trail. I guess I should start by asking what model nytro you have?

2007 Attak any day..but I don't boon dock

My 2 cents - I went from a 09 nytro mtx to an apex mtx and enjoy the apex more in every environment. Now in the nytros defense I only got a handful of miles on it before I totaled it but have found the apex sleds more comfortable, more predictable, and easier to ride. The turbo on the apex helped offset the weight issue but in reality the apex feels like it rides lighter than my nytro did. Sold the turbo sled and now working on another apex but going to try a super on this version. Once you start playing with boost its hard to go back to a stock motor package.

If you are such banging i'd take the nytro any day.

I have had an Attak and a Nytro MTX (I know, different altogether). When I bought the Attak, I stretched it to 144", 2" lug, changed clutching and gearing to make it work in the deep snow. I also put a riser on at the time. Rode it on trails, in the mountains, some boon docking. I really enjoyed the sled. Then I changed out the suspension, put a 156" x 16" x 2.5" lug and a mcx 290 kit on it. Was a beast. Lots of fun. Sometimes unpredictable. I would still have it if it wasn't stolen in 2012. Bought a 2013 nytro mtx with 180 kit. Rode it, took some learning but is fun too. But I still enjoyed the apex more. Both of them need more body english to throw around and will tire you out. IMO, pick the terrain you're going to ride the most, and pick the sled you had the most fun on.

Thank you, yes I did for some reason that attak felt lighter even though on paper it is not, it defiantly felt more comfortable and predictable. where in central Minnesota are you located?

Thank you, sorry to hear about your sled being stolen. I do agree yes the attak needs a bit more body English to throw around but I kinda like that challenge, I did have fun on the attak the riding position brings me back to my teenage years with all the zl and zr arctic cats I had, I like the more laid back but also being able to stand up and attack obstacles.

We get over towards leader some. Have eaten at wahoo a time or two and then run the river back towards home. Lack of snow the last few years has made it tough to do much of anything in this area.

I definitely hear you there, yeah wahoo is awesome we ride wheelers to wahoo, spider lake and all around the area in the summer

The pig races are one of those things everyone should try. It amazes me that the place is packed for two shows every night they run. Somebody had a good idea when they thought that one up.
