Hey guys,

i have a new to me 2008 RTX. I put the new tuner skis on it this fall. had my first ride today. put on 60 miles. I have a strong push in the turns and would like to get to rotate better. the sled has polaris blocks on the back set to 1/4" less than stock. front limiter strap is on the second hole down, rear strap is all the way loose, top hole. front track shock is backed way off, no threads showing. front shocks set at 50psi. what can i do? there are so many adjustments on this thing i don't know where to start.

Thanks!

Hang off it...Nytros like to be ridden hard, you practically need to hang off it Have you done the upper ball joint mod?

no nytro here but i can try & help.

1st, tighten front limiter strap. free & helps put more bite in front end.

next thing i've learned is that on the fx chassis, it's more of a rider imput. the more you move your body (leaning going into corners) the better it reacts.

the nytro guys will chime in for more help than i can

I have to say I am in your shoes. I have polaris blocks also. and it does require alot of leaning to make it rail. I run about 68 lbs in front shocks and gotta have no weight on skis when you check air pressure in shocks. Good luck and this sled gonna make you work for it to get the good handling! There is a fine line with front limter strap because to much will make the steering really hard turning. Best thing is LEAN HARD and HANG ON!!!!

I'm very very happy with my set up, i'v got a 2010 rtx. My set up is with the skis off the ground 100psi in the front shocks 8 clicks in from soft on compression, 3 clicks in from minimum dampening, in the rear skid the centre shock is set at half (can't remember how many clicks) screw in or out ajustment screw count the clicks divide by two, spring preload is about 3/4 firm dampening adjuster is 8 clicks in from starting from maximum out, rear main shock is identical as centre minus the spring. I weight 175 lbs no gear, oh and that Polaris block remove it and reinstall the stock ones or if anything install a larger one so that it couples earlier. Hope that helps

Relocate the sway bar mount to the most forward hole...this helps stiffen the sway bar providing a responsive front end. Tightening up the rear limiter straps can help too...lowering the rear suspension brings the Sled's center of gravity lower.

You won't get the Nytro to "rail" due to it's high center of gravity, but every little bit helps, including leaning.

What were the conditions like when you had your push in the corners?

Hang off the side of the seat on the inside, push down on your outside foot and move your weight forward if you can. These sleds like more input. Roll in and out of the throttle - don't dump and punch it.

i have no idea if the upper ball joint mod was done. my guess is no. it had 950 miles on it when i bought it at the end of last season, and has y.e.s. warranty till dec. 24 of 2014. they did tell me when i bought it that the "ball joints" were replaced under warranty, but i guess that i don't know exactly what the means now that I've learned more about these sleds.

the trails were groomed, but loose, outside temp was about 25 degrees. all the other guys were complaining of the exact opposite problem... couldn’t keep the rear ends in line, fish tailing all over. no one else was on a nytro though. all polaris edge chassis sleds. I couldn't side my rear end at all. I used to be a polaris guy, but made the switch to yamaha because i couldn't afford to keep fixing my IQ every other time i drove it.

Please tell me more about how to relocate the sway bar? i didn't know that can be done.

Where you go riding at?

Probably didnt have the balljoint mod done, it more then likely had the bottom balljoints done. Read the sticky "nytro faqs" section, will help you a ton!

a friend of mine lives in wisconsin rapids (zone 4 wood county), we left from his house and went into adams county. it was a short ride, only 30 miles out and then the same 30 back.

i have read the stuff in the FAQ page. i did also put about 300 miles on the sled at the end of last season with the factory skis on. i didn't notice a push then, but she was darty and twitchy. the tuner skis seem to have taken care of that, but now she does't want to turn. this morning i checked the runners on the skis. i went with the middle setting on the chart; 6" carbide on the inside and just the bar on the outside. the outside bar is already very warn down. could this be because the ball joint mod hasn't been done? causing it to run more on the outside keel through the turns?? i'm wondering if i should put a more aggressive bar on the outside.

Put Tuner skis on mine as well, 70 miles yesterday and lots of pushing, But I do believe its the loose snow, was riding alot of ungroomed trails.. Not as pushy as the Stockers, with duallys...

no studs. but that ripsaw track really bites in, sort of feels like it is studded.

if it had regular shocks on the front... based on previous experience with other sleds i would take a couple of turns out of the spring preload. but i'm already at 50 psi. has anyone gone lower than 50? also, we did take two turns out of the front track shock mid-ride and i felt very little change, but if anything it made the push worse??

Oh nice my buddy lives in rome over there...should pm me next time you riding over in rapids. Could swing by and ride with you, my sled is in tomah.

Have you adjusted your toe? Needs to be toed out, i would say 1/2. That should calm down the twichy feeling and control the darting. Also with the dual runners you will get push, its just the way it is with dual runners. I run about 60lbs in my floats too
