I have a 08 vector gt that i just put new slides and plugs. About every 5th to 8th time i start out after rolling to a stop i have to run the rpms up to 5 to 6 k before it kicks lose, and my new belt starts smoking. Even then it doesnt feel as free as it was. The track is not tight, the belt is the right size, got that from the dealer, the slides are not hitting the track. I checked the chain case tightness, all good. I do not know where to go from here. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What happen is the secondary clutch is not closed so it is like starting in 2nd gear . Just make sure when you come to a stop let it roll a little to let the clutch close .

Thanks darv, but why only once every so often? Maybe the wrong belt? It sits in the secondary where it should whenit is closed. More thoughts???

As soon as I read "new slides" that is exactly what I thought as well.
Hopefully he rides in some loose snow occassionally until they are broken in or he does risk them seizing to his slides entirely.

I have never heard of the slides sticking, could be. I was in plenty of snow and snow dust. Maybe they changed the slide material, it looked and felt the same. I am not sure of where the buttons are on the secondary. Thanks for all the help so far, love this site.

If running in minimal conditions, the sliders can and will actually weld themselves to the clips when you come to a stop.
If you don't get into some snow before stopping, especially with new sliders, then you can expect this.
Seen it happen to my bud on his 97 XLT.
When he went to remove the stuck slider, it was so stuck that he actually pulled the clip from the track.

Hi Darv, so if the secondary is not closing all the way when i stop what can i do to cure this? I dont feel as though it is the sliders sticking to the track. Snow conditions were great and we ended riding 114 miles that day. The only thing is the belt in my mind. It was a bitch to put on, did not check the numbers seeing how the dealer handed it to me. It does sit in the secondary like it should. ???
