Had a friend invite me up to his place in the Keweenaw and ride either or of his new sleds. 09 M8 or the 09 XTX, I chose the XTX, my brother has an 08 M8, so I have seat time on the m's, but not an XTX. I have ridden an 08 Nytro, but not for very long, I was looking forward to riding the XTX.
My current sled is an 07 RMK 600 155"
Friday was trail riding day, 96 miles, with in 30 minutes I was use to the xtx already, fit me like a glove. The snow was pretty fluffy, so it pushed a bit in the corners, but all the sleds that were with us were doing the same thing, once we got on a trail that had been packed down a bit, it railed, it had Simmons skis on it. Did not mess with suspension settings or anything, just rode it. I never felt the "4 stroke weight" of it all. Saturday was 2' of fresh bottomless snow. I could carve that thing like a hot knife through butter, just as easy to carve and play around with as my 07 RMK, never felt heavy to me in the powder either. Sled is equipped with the 1.75" on it. Didn't get it stuck, so can't comment on how heavy it would feel digging it out. It popped right up out of the snow no problem.
LOVE THE MOTOR!!
Torque, torque, torque! Pulls like a freight train, smooth, quiet, and powerful. I can speak no words that do this motor justice, love it. Will it be enough to make me purchase an 2010 model, or left over 09, possibly, the chances just went way up!
