1,000 mile Cobra Review

Well I just thought I would update my review. My Cobra now has 7,000 miles on it. I am losing lugs fast. I will be replacing it next week with another Cobra. Here is what I think of it:

Pros:
Increased traction on loose, powdery trails
Increased traction in the powder
Very similar traction to a ripsaw in hardpack
More durable than the ripsaw
Very little loss in top end

Cons:
Increased slider wear
Increased ice build up

Overall I'm pretty happy with this track. I thought about switching to the 1.25" predator but I decided to stick with the Cobra. It's advantages heavily outweigh its disadvantages. If I ran studs I would not use this track.

I have a studded cobra with 2500 miles on it and it looks new, very happy with the track but gives up a titch of powder performance compared to the 1.25" predator. This is on a 240 hp supercharged sled. Not sure about the comments on durability and it being 'softer' seems like heresay to me I see no durability issues.

Overall I like this track.

Interesting! Due to our totally crappy (northern Mi) season last year I might have another 1000- to maybe 1500 miles on mine since last year. Opinion hasn't changed much. Still haven't lost any lugs or noticed much in the way of damage. I did go with some different skis which are MUCH more aggressive than the stockers. Still messing with the resulting new setup required, but I'm actually able to kick the back end out now under some conditions. Still trying to figure that out as well. I didn't notice any change in top end at all.

Hope I don't run into a bunch of tossed lugs in the next few miles! Thinking about it though, that would give me the chance to try out a Predator - something I've been wanting to do for a while now.... -Al

When I went from the ripsaw to the cobra on my nytro I noticed the back end would kick out quite a bit easier with the cobra. It was especially noticeable while under heavy breaking coming into a corner, or while trying to power out of a corner while riding on one ski.
