So I think I am going to be putting an 1 3/4 back county on my 08 FX Nytro, I was wondering if the heat exchanger gaurds would need to be taken off if I changed out my extroverts to 8 tooth instead of 9 tooth. Also if anybody has messed with the gearing after going to 8 tooth to get it back close to stock again. Also any other mods that would have to be do in order to run the bigger track.
thanks, and sorry if this has been posted before but i could not find the info.

You do NOT need to go to 8 tooth drivers for a 1.75.
It is a good idea to remove the tunnel and heat exchanger protectors however I know some guys have left the heat exchanger ones on without issue. Also some tracks are notched or any track can be notched.
It's not that bad of a job to cut them off while you have the track out.
I always suggest dropping one or two teeth on the top sprocket when you go to a large lug track. You have already lost some top end with that track so you might as well make that power accessible down low and take advantage of the big lugs.

The reason that i was wondering about the 8 tooth was to try to keep the heat echanger protecters in there just incase that track happens to loosen up a little bit, not that it want to start chewing into the heat echanger. Any concern with that or am I just overthinking it

unless you have studs you wont chew the exchanger. For stock drivers you would have to cut the protectors off or notch the track..... GL

I ran the 1.5 intense with the 121 after I took the stock 1.25 off. Huge difference. everything else was stock and I could stop and pin.it and get her to hit the bumper and im only 150lbs. As for powder the intense is a 50/50 for both trail and powder. wonderful track. loved it.
