Am I going to see much difference between a 1.25 track and a 1.75 track on groomed trail I found a good deal on a 12 nytro xtx but it has a 1.75 track and not sure that it is the right one for me I don't wont it ride ride #*$&@ on the grommets trail because of that.

IMO i would think on a groomed trail a 1.25 would be better then a 1.75. better again stud the 1.25.
ive used the 1.5 intense and to me it worked well on and off the trail. I wouod think a 1.75 would be ti far the other way.

If you have snow that is not rock hard packed or icy, it is a great track for the trail. If not, you are going to have your hands full. Most of the time these past 3 years I have had good conditions for the track. I just came back from a weeks ride in Old Forge where there was little snow and very hard icy conditions and I was holding my breath that I would make the corners. Just depends on the conditions where you ride.

You can always trim it to a 1 1/2" and have a track that no one else has. If you are strictly a trail rider then you really don't need it. I have a 162 MTX with a 2 1/4" track trimmed to 1 3/4" and I ride the groomed trails at times. Our trails don't really get icey. If they do I just try and take it slow and chase every bit of loose snow I can find until I am in better conditions.

why would you do that??? seems like a waste of money to me. the backcountry track would probably be better the a 2.25 trimmed to a 1.75.

trimming the track down is a pretty cheesy job. get a 1.5" steel bar. sharpen the back side of a saws all blade. set the bar on the track and bun the blade across it. if you want to cut notches in it weld a razor to a set of pliers.

I trimmed down a 2.25 track because there is no 1.75 track offered in a 162 length. I bought a MTX because I couldn't find a used XTX at the time. 2.25 tracks are overkill here in the flatlands and it is also the stock Maverick track that fold over. Trimmed to 1.75 makes it handle better on the trails and the lugs are stiffer. If I bought a powder claw I would do the same thing. Camoplast thiks that nobody rides a mountain sled in the praries. There are more longtrack sleds here then short track sleds. Just 3 tracks to pick from for the 162 3 pitch.
