So I have 10:1 pistons in my sled and I just put heavy head studs in. I'm wondering if I should use the 3 layered wiseco gasket that comes with the piston kit or just get a stock yammi gasket. I had a wiseco gasket in it last year and it was leaking on my last ride. Probably due to the fact that I hit 26lbs of boost early in the year. I'm surprised it made it that long with stock studs. At least it held until the end of the season.

I have the Wiseco but have never put it one so I'm not sure how it would work, but stock head gasket works great.

But in his sig he is big bore...
Would the stock gasket be okay for big bore?

Wiseco sends the same gasket for the big bore as the stocker.

They do. Stock is 74mm and I'm bored to 75mm. The gasket is listed for 74-75mm. If I was bored anymore than that then it would be different gasket.

mulotTurbo - Not reading the sig... bummer !!!
sledfvr - would you care measuring the inner diameter of the gasket so we can compare it to a stock one?

My digital caliper has as dead battery right now so I don't have a readout, but the sled had a stock gasket in it with the big bore when I got it and I just compared the two and they are both the same diameter. Wiseco's website lists it as part number w6112 for 74-75mm rx-1. I'm just wondering what the difference in compression might be. The stocker is only 2 piece and the wiseco is a 3 piece and seems quite a bit thicker. When I tested it with the stock gasket it had around 178psi in each hole, which seems a little high for a turbo. When I checked it with the wiseco gasket it was only 135psi, but I don't think the rings were seated fully yet. I was thinking of putting a stock gasket in to keep it responsive, but I pull long hills at wot and I don't want to heat soak the motor either. Just seems like a big jump from 178 to 135.
