Went for a 50 mile ride today in some deep stuff. Brought it home, left it outside for about 4 hours in -25'C. Started it up let it warm up, took it off the trailer, chipped as much ice off as I could then went to drive it into the garage and it would not engage. Tried a few times, smelt a lot of burning rubber. Put it in reverse, backed up fine then back in forward and it worked. While it was running warming up outside, it shut its self off (I'm assuming this is normal if it gets too hot? Would this have anything to do with not engaging or was there ice stuck somewhere that when I put it in reverse it came loose? Any ideas?

sound like you already have your answer. It must have been ice up underneath. And they will shut down when they get to hot, if they are just sitting there . Good luck, have a great winter and enjoy your new sled.

Happens to my xtx and my wifes Firecat all the time. Like SupaDexta said slam the rear suspension up and down to bust all that crap out of there. I hope you didn't smoke your belt too.

After you slam it down a couple times I think you should put it in reverse. Sends the big chunks out the back instead of jamming it all up at the driveshaft. Look under there to see what hasnt come loose. My wife smoked her last poo belt doing this.

Plus, it helps to run it on a track stand before starting out.

I always beat as much ice out of skid and jack it up and make sure the track turns freely....I have doing this forever and have never burned a belt or tore the corners of the track....A rubber hammer works best for beating the ice out.
