mytro said:I sorry I didn't know the xtx was a different style, my bad. I really can't see the 2.5mm being an issue. The way these sleds work now you put new sliders on and burn off about 3-5mm Hyfax off in the first 10 miles until the wheels take over and do their job, now it should be 2.5MM less stock removal hahaha...
I hate to disagree but my sled's sliders wore right down to the wear limit and beyond. You can see that in my picture above. That happened within 850Km. After having changed all my idlers to 135mm (except the 4 inner attached to the suspension), after 1000Km of the crappiest snow conditions, there was hardly any wear. Also note that I added two sets of marginal snow wheels in the front curve. The wear used to be directly under the front original wheels so this is proof to me that the original wheels are not big enough or improperly positioned.
It only took a few home DIY'ers to figure out what high priced Yamaha engineers couldn't fix.

Mooseman said:What I meant was that we can only use these wheels on the regular mounts, not the ones that are part of the suspension, like the inner ones in the photo. Because of the wider bearing, they would not fit, no matter the offset.
The extra pressure would come from the extra load that the wheel would be carrying that the hyfax would have carried were it not for the 2.5mm extra wheel height. But this could be a moot point just for that 2.5mm but I think the cracking would happen from a direct hit of the wheel on a rock or something, which is why I prefer the Doo 2 bolt mounts. In fact, didn't Yamaha go to a two bolt mount for most of their sleds this year?
"Mooseman" which Doo 2 bolt mounts did u use (From what model or part #)? and which Doo wheels (From what model or part #)?
We'll get this straight yet!
Thanks

theres something in the works which will allow the stock wheels and bearings and yet give you the equivalent to a 135mm wheel...shhhhh

youre worried about durability of a 10 dollar bearing or a 20 dollar wheel...you should more concerned about durability of a couple grand thing that spins round and round...

So whats the cost for all the extra wheels?
I put on scratchers and Hiperfax moved some wheels from outside to inside and its all good. Got lost riding with the wife on night ended up road running for about 5-6km no worse for wear. Hiperfaxes look new as the day the went on. A bit spendy but in my opinion they are worth it.

My workup is posted here:

I used mostly the info from Rockerdan's post here:

Bought the wheels here at a price that can't be beat:

As far as the "something is coming" teaser, one of the advertisers here is working on a two bolt mount, similar to the Doo's, but uses the Yamaha stock 130mm wheel, moving it down to give the same "lift" as the 135mm wheel. Although this sounds great at first, you're just gonna have to eventually get whole new wheels when the bearings go since they are not replaceable. Or you replace them with the new Yamaha wheels that have replaceable bearings. I would opt for this is you want to keep the original wheel's looks. But this new mount is not available yet, the 'Doo mounts are dirt cheap as well as the Kimpex Pro wheels.

Also, if you don't run studs you can get Billet wheels with the stock yamaha 6005 bearings. So they would be direct bolt on replacements, would require no modifications.
North Coast Innovation was going to start making them pretty soon.

Skidoo wheels are $35.00 a piece, I went with 6 for a 136 track. What do you mean you went outside to inside with wheels? Is it am xtx or shortie?

6 wheels your skid must look like a tank. The hiperfax and scratchers worked so well I'm thinking of getting rid of the wheels altogether this season.
