Hey guys tried searching this but havent really found what im lookin for. I want to stretch my 121 rtx to either 136 or 144 (hartman). I ride 90% groomed trails and mostly hard pack and some loose snow. I also want to run 144 studs up the middle. I don't want to compromise too much top end if any. I'm already geared down 1 tooth up top(23). I was thinkin the tipped up rails if i go 144! What do you guys suggest? Does the mono hold up ok if I go 144? gonna go with the cobra track as well!! I guess ill see alot better hook up off the line with the bigger footprint?Any info would be great!! thanks.

I did the same thing over summer to my 06 RTX and love it. All i can say is hold on. I used all hartmann parts. But I relocated my skid. So the skid is only a 136 but I move it back 4" and down 3/4". The only time I say you would need studs is if you are on ice. the hook up i killer with the 144". I have the 23 top gear to rader two weeks ago 111MPH on the gun. I was running the cobra but got a deep snow track in it now. Here is the post I did on it.

I like the 144. If you go tipped up rails then you shouldn't lose too much of your handling, and you will like the extra length for traction and flotation.

I went 153" with my Apex, but I put in a whole different skid, so I can't say anything about the mono holding up when extended.

We at Muffin Works have both 136 and 144" extension kits available ... in both straight rail and tipped rail versions. Many here on TY have used our kits with great results. If you search around you will also find our reputation is second to none. PM me, or check out our website for more details.

Due to the more traction you will accelerate faster, and gain speed, the loss of the bigger/longer track will only really show up on straight Ice and over 1000" speed runs. From everyday trail set up, the 136 is perfect, but if you find your self in loose snow or ungroomed spots you will like the 144. On real hard trails you will feel the 144 behind you, fighting to keep you straight.

I had 121's and went 136 and this year went 144 with setting the suspension back 4". I am running the cobra track and love the hook up. Also I run 260 picks.

my only question is if you go from 121 to 144 ( this is what I want to do) what slides do you get? are the nytro xtx slides the same as fit an Apex?

Will a 144" Apex fit in a clamshell trailer?

If it's a 12 footer it will. Mine won't go in a 10 footer. I am on my 2nd season and see no real negatives. I geared down to 21/38 and in good conditions see118-119 mph on the dream-o-meter. When a stock 136 it would run124-126 in the same conditions. But I am running a Crossover 1.5 track unstudded. TRACTION IS PHENOMINAL!! I was croosing a DEEP, over the hood deep, ditch at a 90. Bumper went under the snow before stating the vertical climb out. With my old setup I would have been stuck LOL! Popped straight up and out with no problem.

Stock 9's. I have another axle that I'll be putting 8's on to allow clearance for a taller track for going West. Here in N. Il. and Wi., as well as the UP, the 1.5 is a good compromise. Decent offtrail with no worries about hyfax. I am running an ExpertX 136, setback to 144.

Thanks. Sorry for going off topic but it sounded like 21/38 worked well for you offtrail. I stretched to 153" with a 2.25 lug Maverick and 7 tooth 3" pitch drivers (almost the same circumference as the 8 tooth 2.52's) and I am leaning toward 21/38. If it works for you with larger drivers than it should be fine for me with the smaller ones.
