hi guys

i was out on the harbour racing around today and she was running perfect. then when i stoped to a few guys and then when i went to go again i was only getting 10000 rpm and was doin 150 kph. then i went home and checked it over. i cleaned the coils with paper towels and blowed them out with my air compressor and then tried it. seemed to work good there for a while but it wasnt. same problem. she was normal until i goes above 7000 rpm. no throttle response at all. all i hear is that big bogging sound when i open the sled out. anyone know what this night be? i was going to try di-electric grease inside the coils and around the plugs hole on the head but wait to see what you guys thinks of this first. also, i pulled the spark plugs out and they look good because i only put new ones in about a month ago. all 4 plugs and were hot/warm. let me know what i should do!

thanks

well i went out to try her lastnight and she was normal again...with excellent throttle response and revs up to 11000 rpm and this sled is stock. after i went on it today i was going full throttle across the harbour and turned around to come back across and then i was doin 10 and then she started to loose power and the bogging came back. i need help. i want to know what to do because i dont want to experience this all winter. i'm going to try coils from a 04 warrior sometime today or tomorrow to see if thats the problem. but let me know if you may know what the problem is!

i bet snow enter the airbox in the nose. When it bog, check for ice inside the airbox.

I'm starting to wonder if perhaps your float bowl level is perhaps too low and you're running out of fuel in one or more of the float bowls after a long wide open run?

Frosty

no i dont think its the float bowls because i have the updated float bowls and i took my filter out of my airbox today and it was a bit dirty. then i washed it in soapy water to get the dirty/oil out. the filter was kinda oilly. when i got it in my hands, my fingers would be black and now after cleaning it there is a little back that comes on my fingers but not much. do you think this may have causes it to bog out at 7000 rpm? i will let you guys know how it works out after i install the filter back in the airbox!

Thanks

well its not the airbox. i am down to 2 options that i may think the problem is. i think it might be the coils or the carbs. i am gonna clean the pivot jets and main jets if i take the carbs off. let me know if you might think what the problem is!

i tried coils off of my uncle 2003 rx1. he got a short track and i got the long track. well no luck with the coils. it is not the coils thats causing the problem. i am thinking it might be the carbs. i think there is a jet cloged. when i installed the updated float bowls liek a month ago i didnt take the pivot jets out i just done the main jet thats all. i am going tohau the carbs off when i can get time seeing it is christmas tomorrow i will do it whenever i can get at it. this problem on eads me to the carbs because i tried the airbox, plugs, and coils so it must be the carbs or a wire grounding out on the frame. can anyone let me know what u thinks it might be? if a jet is cloged will it work good in low rpm and over 7000 will it bog out if a jet is cloged? please let me know!

Thanks

Do you have a coolant shutoff for your carbs? Rod (Powder Nomad) had a similar problem on Friday when we were riding.

I had the same issue when my sled was stock and figured I knew what the cause was based of my findings. I suggested that he crack open his shutoff valve just enough to let a little bit of the warm coolant to flow through them. This cured his problem. If you are running a coolant shutoff valve for the carbs try this the next time it happens. The sled should start to clear out after about 3 minutes of hard running.

What happens is this; when the dew point and air temp is the same the carbs will ice over. This can even happen during the summer and is the reason why you see NHRA Top Fuel guys sqirting alcohol into the blower intakes after the burnouts (de-ice the carbs).

check your air box and make sure that all the boots are seated properly around your carb intakes. Any air leak there will give you a high rpm bog. If you exhast pipes are overly black inside that is your proplem.

i had my coolant shut off valve open all the way when this happened. the sled is still acting the same way. she is down to 6000 rpm there now and it almost tears me apart to hear it after 6000 and higher rpm's. i am going to clean the carbs when i gets time and see if that is the problem. would a cloged jet make the sled run this way? i think it mite be the carbs like i said it could be a cloged jet. sound like the problem to me because it aint the coils, or airbox. could recheck the plugs but they were a new set i put in last month. let me know if i am right.

I just cleaned the carbs on my 04, yep the carbs!! Get THE PILOTS AND MAINS. Should fix it! Would fall on it's face at 7000-8000 before cleaning, afterwords it rips

well i cleaned the carbs...took the pivot jet and main jet out and keeped them with an air compressor and cleaned the pathways with the air compressor also. then put her back together and she works perfect. the bogging is goe so i know know that it must of been a cloged jet.

thanks everyone!!
