I bought a 2004 Yamaha rx1 and it has a top speed of 94 mph. I have synchronized the carbs, and when i am between 80-94mph and let off the gas it bogs until slowing down to about 45mph then goes like mad to 90-94mph. it has a get r done kit from hauck (clutch, K&N Filters, Exhaust, and I believe jeted). i think this sled shoud do at least 125mph. if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate them.

What are your rpm,s flat out. You should be hitting low to mid 10k rpm,s. tach is a good tuning tool that gives me a hint whats going on.

I suggest that you start by cleaning the Carbs. Then replace the Secondary Spring unless you know that it is no older than one season. While you are in the carbs, take note of the size of the Mains and take a look at the color of the springs and the clip position. Then you will know what you actually have in there.

I would bet that the previous owner has changed out your gears. You will have to take the chain-case apart to determine what gears are in there. But, if they geared it down, then 94 Mph may be normal. Especially if it gets there quick. Is the sled studded? You will need studs to take advantage of the low gearing, if it is actually geared down that much.

Also, check the gear on the drive shaft for the Speedometer. They may have ground off a tooth or two. This will cause the speedometer to be more accurate. However, two teeth off will actually make it read low.

What RPM are you shifting at?

the tach is between 10,500 and 11,000. it is studded i have put in new br9e ngk plugs in, new oil, new chain oil, greased all zerks. I have wondered if one of the previous owners did drag race this sled, would they have lowered the gears to get off to a faster start. I did get a new primary spring from hauck because it was engaging at 5,500 rpm's. now it is at about 4,200. I did mark the primary and secondary sheaves and the belt is running all the way down the secondary and within 1/4" of the primary.

Your rpm,s are high....by about 500. You need more primary weight or maybe your belt is wore out.. Also if your in soft fluffy snow that will also kik the crap out of your top end vs real hardpack.
