We just bought a 04 Warrior and had it gone over by an authorized service department. The carbs needed cleaning but that was about all they found. It has an upgraded Arc Air Suspension M10 single shock suspension and rides great. Only 1200 miles. BUT while my son would run past me in a field I can hear a loud "stones in a tin can sound" . Suspension is tight, all wheels are turning. No wear. Strange you can't hear the sound while riding it. Only as it passes you on the side. I know its a long shot but any guesses? Thanks

Maybe there is some ice in the tunnel rattling around ? I've had that happen and it can sound like something is coming apart.

the m10 will rattle. It is the cross brace covers, aluminum tubing over the long bolts that tie the side rails together. Possibly the heat shields in the tunnel, almost all of us have removed.

X2 on the heat shields under the exhaust- remove them if they are loose.

maybe check header donuts, plug exhaust at idle see if it labors

X3 on the heat shields... had 2 rx-1 and rx warrior. They rattled on all of them. Take them off and your good to go.

I just bought my Blue RX-1. i seem to notice the rattling as well. only riden on the grass : ) what is the down side to removing the heat shield??
why did yami put it in??sled is heavy enough already

Thanks all I will look at the shields. but I would be curios too on what could happen without them.

I'm going to take a guess that Yamaha thought they needed protection from rocks and debris at the areas where there are joints in the exhaust? It doesn't seem to make much of a difference though because most people took them off as soon as they got loose, or after the replacement got loose.

05 rx did not come with them at all. on brothers 04 war they have been removed and on the new 03 rx exhaust i put into the 05 war.

Looks like some shields are missing on mine. Were the old shields between the track and the exhaust? There are some old rivets rattling there now
