2005 RX1 Rails.

My 2005 RX1 ER,LE has 1100miles and I've noticed that the rails have hair line cracks in them at the rear inner idler wheels. Right below where the inner rear idler wheels bolt to the rail they each have a thin hairline crack.

I realize theirs issues with the rails but my question is will and has Yamaha replaced rails under warranty, I know their going to fail and when they do it will be the day after my warranty expires.

Any info would be great.

If they're cracked, then they already HAVE failed. There is rumour of rail UPDATES, which are not yet available. You might want to wait until the last minute to play with the warranty on it.

I am about 99% sure you will get new ones under warrenty. And you'll get the 06 rails, the rail reinforcements and the taller bump stops. The taller bumpstops are believed to be the most helpful solution to the pivot arm cracking. :shock:
Picture 1 is basically the 05. In picture 2 you can see the taller bumpstops and the rail reinforcements (plates bolted on the rails starting behind the double wheels to the bolts that secure inside wheel shaft near the rear). You can also see that the 06 rails have more height to them from the inside wheel shaft to the rear axle

I always found it interesting how that 05 skid picture from the Yamaha web site has a nice variable rate spring on it...

Yamaha will change the rails if they have cracks (and it's still under warranty and they don't think you've been abusing it).

I'd like to but I haven't quite caught the sledding bug yet (haven't started to discuss any trips yet).

My first priority is to get my machine repaired and make sure it is going to be durable this season.
