Hea i saw your post on wnyspeed too, i'm 99ls1vert btw, anywho
i seen you put alot of effort with your intake but ... you are going to have to ditch it! (that could be the prolbem) for some reason these sleds do not like k&n s I've ran mine with no exhaust with no prolbem! ;)!

BTW welcom to the forum :4STroke: :yam:

What problems to you forsee? I think i did all of the math.

cfm of the motor requirement.
inlet to cfm requirement.
static volume.

I hope it works...? i think the one thing i like the best is the coolent running in the rear grab bar.

My question for you is "Why?".

What were you looking for and what was wrong with stock?

I do not understand your questioning. is there something you would like me to give you further information on. Or are you asking for my justifcation. Because if you are asking for my justifacation, i would say " i am an engineer and enjoy tinkering"

Pretty cool.... Like DoktorC said though, are you going to have clearance for the exhaust when suspension compresses? Maybe it's just the angle the pic was taken at? You must have droped the suspension brackets, no?

I found the Vector I rode ran extremely well 100% stock. I was trying to figure out the justification for spending what looks like 100's of hours making all of the changes. Is it going to produce more hp? Is it going to sound better? Is it going to look better? Improve reliability?

I too am an engineer (mechanical) and if I modify my snowmobiles it's primarily to improve durability but also to improve driveability and performance.

For example on my 07 I'm going to machine the suspension to allow wider, more durable 2004 RX-1 idler wheels with 6205 bearings to be installed, install a 4th wheel kit in the rear axle, install a tall windshield, install a 1" 6-pitch track, install 144 1.075" Gold Digger studs, install a 2005 RX-1 chaincase, install C&A Outlaw skis, install a 13mm sway bar, install a panel mounted, fused, 12 volt visor plug, install tunnel reinforcements from a 2007 Apex GT, install a custom auxiliary fuel tank in the nose and install a skidplate.

The suspension machining, 04 idler wheels, 4th wheel kit, 1" track, chaincase, visor plug, tunnel reinforcements and skidplate are to improve durability and reliability. The windshield is to keep me warm. The skis and sway bar are to improve cornering. The fuel tank is to improve my fuel range. The studs are for safety on icy corners and to improve overall traction.

Won't that exhaust get crushed when the suspension colapses?

All of the exhaust is built above the protectors, and the mufflers are above them also. i also colapsed the suspension and have more the an inch of room on top of the protectors. But it could happen, and there would be ALOT of other work to go along with it other then the work that i did. if i am still walking after it happened.

i am going to put a longer track on it next year i.e. 136 and i will put a the drop suspension brackets.

the stock ride is nice. i really enjoyed the 200 miles that i have on it. I thought that it would be nice if it had an under the muffler system and it need to have something with a spark arrester (which i was shock to find it did not have one). so i thought about it for ~ week or so and start it. then the rest are the fallowing:

1. CAT handel bar, 90 on the left and 45 on the right bend
because i dont like the ape hanges that come stock. CAT bars are wider easier to turn (not that it was hard)

2. 3.5 inch riser
help when stand up riding
3. hand gaurds (not pic yet)
looks
4. blue l.e.d side marker lights
I ran all the wire's to put blinkers and reverse light on but i have not put a flasher unit in. i will soon so right now they are just marker lights.
5. Defi EGT gauge
maybe supercharger next year
6. AEM wideband
see above
7. low blacked out windscreen
looks
8. Intake hand made (powder coated)
did not like the air inlet and the crank breather location.
9. 2006 R1 under the tunnel muffler
sound, storage, looks, and some other reasons.
10. heated rear handel/ tow bar (S.S)(powder coated)
coolent usage, heated for when i get stuck and take my gloves off
11. custom under the seat l.e.d brake light/ reverse light
looks, and nice for backing up
12. custom rear tool box (powder coated)
to be able to put something other then a coke in it. storage
13. custom tunnel extention (powder coated)
some day a longer track.

I am a EE and i am going for my ME. if you would like any more pics let me know.

what is the format for posting pics?

Why are you concerned about a spark arrester? Snowmobiles have been dumping their exhaust directly towards the ground below/beside the engine since the early 60s without any spark arresters. It's very common for older sleds to shoot flames out the exhaust pipe (the 06 Apex produces a 2-3 foot flame show after a long WOT run too).
