Hi, This is my first Yamaha sled, and I absolutely love it. It is a 2005 Yamaha RS Rage with 2,000 miles on it. The question I have is that when I use the reverse and back up, then put it back into forwards and the clutch engages I hear a loud clunk come from under the hood, sounds like it's around the chaincase. Is this normal? If not, what needs to be done. Thanks for your help

You need to adjust your primary chain... It's quite easy to do... Even after you take out the extra slop it still may make a small sound, depending how hard you jump on it fron R/Forward. When shifting into forward just ease into the throttle... Everything will last longer that way.. I think the jam nut is a #14mm.. MM.

Should the chain be tight when done? Just take the case off and adjust it seems easy enough. Also, will I need to put a new gasket on the case? Don't mean to sound dumb, just kinda new to working on sleds

You don't need to remove the case......... Looking at it from the right "front" side you will see a bolt with a 14mm locknut. Loosen the nut, back off the bolt with your fingers.. Then turn it back in "clock wise" until it seats.. Do not over tighten.. Use your fingers only. Once finger tight then back out 1/8th of a turn. Tighten the locking nut... Good to go.. Have fun.. Oh ya, it works better to do this with a cool engine. MM.
