Looking to purchase a left over 06 apex rtx. Have there been any Yamaha updates? Is there anything else I should be aware prior to purchase?

Rookie to 4strokes!

I helped a buddy change his track on an 06 to an 09 GT and yes a few changes, bearing size, shaft size and a few renforcements to the tunnel we where both surprized. I would just work on getting a good price.

A great sled. I have 5200 miles on mine.
Here is a quick overview of the RTX;
Updates:
Handlebars, i.e the hand warmers
Bogie wheels (delaminating)

Watchout for:
Front bushings
Drive shaft bearing
Exhaust doughnuts

Mods:
10ek plugs
13 ml sway bar
Airbox mod
Exhaust
Skis (eliminate darting, yami skis "not so good")
96 Studs with Backers
PC III

Make sure to set up front Fox floats to 40-45 PSI. Sled needs to lifted off ground with no pressure on the shocks to ensure correct PSI. This will help with the Apex "top heavy" in the turns.

You will love the sled....

the 06 is a great sled, they did update a couple things after 06 but not much. The big updates came in 09-10. 06, 07, 08 they did not update much. There are lots of guys on here with well over 10,000 on 06 apex's. Great sleds!!

I have an 06 RTX, ridden a lot of sleds and this one has been the most fun(a lot of fun). Go with a set of pilots and 13mm bar for the front and offset kit for the rear(reduces hyfax wear greatly)

Thanks for everyones input. If it ends up in my trailer, I'll have more questions.

Thanks Again.
John
