I need help.

I changed the gear in my 2006 nytro and now it is throwing some oil out, it is throwing oil onto the side of the oil resivoir as well as the other side.

Would it be the seal?

Has anybody else had this problem?

Any help would be great

It could be the cover's seal or the jackshaft seal. You may want to clean up the mess and then run it a small ways and locate the particular seal that is leaking.

I don't believe it is the cover seal, it seems to be the seal before the rotor as it seems to be going onto the shaft and it is being throwm from there.

I used torco synthetic and it is very thin, what grade oil should be in the chaincase?

Is it normal to have to replace this seal everytime you take the chaincase cover off?

If you are careful you should be able to reuse the seal on the JackShaft. Some of the guys even use ATF, so I don't think you can get too thin on the oil. If oil is coming out of the seal on the shaft, you will probably have to replace the seal. This assumes there is no chance that you damaged the sealing surface on the shaft or the shaft got bent somehow.

It inspected it closer last night and it does not seem oily by the shaft, do these chaincases have a vent?

I am puzzled, as it did not seem to throw it out as bad on Sunday as it did on sat.

If the level is too high would it throw some out until it got down to the correct level as it seems to be perfectly on the reverse line right now.

Thanks for the replies

did you remember to put the colar back on that had the set screw in it. If that isn't there or if the o ring onthe shaft wasgone it will leak. he cover gasket is known to leakon hem also, but it would be thrown ot like you descibe. Maxdlx
