At the end of this season I purchased a new 2006 Vector GT. It is my first Yamaha; I look forward to riding it. I will ride it stock most/all of next season.

I will have interest in some improvements late in the year. I am interested in if anyone has a RS with an Ulmer Racing Stage 3 clutch kit with an Excell Header.

Please reply to the below questions if you actually ride a Vector and have experience with Ulmer Racing' products.

Did Ulmer Racing deliver the clutch with instructions that resulted in a good performing sled? Were you able to run it side-by-side against a stock RS? How did they compare off the line? Top-end?

Did your mileage change?

Did the Excell header make the sled louder?

I will ride this sled in MN, WI and MI, primarily on the trails, but I am a willing ditch and highline runner. If you have this setup, how well does it work on Midwest trails? Ditches?

Thanks,

Bgs

I own a Vector RS with the following:

1. Ulmer stage 3 clutch kit

2. Hauck Exhaust

3. Green carb springs

The clutch kit is the best I have ever purchased, great customer service. This setup turned this sled into a whole new sled. At least 4-5 lenghts over a stock set-up. No mileage change. Great instructions. Raced sled before and after, Pulls harder off the line and killer midrange. Clutched vs non clutched no comparison. You will not be disappointed.

I also have the Ulmer Stage III on my 2003 RX-1, the midrange improvement transforms this sled into a real hustler.

Ulmer is an awesome guy to deal with too.

I did exactly what you want to do on my 05 Vector. The Ulmer Kit is top notch and the Excell Header is too. The sled does not get any louder than stock, but does have a lower tone which is cool.

I was one of the first people to use both the Ulmer S3 Kit and Excell Header together and I found that Ulmer's standard S3 setting were not good when using the Excell Header. I called Ulmer up and he instantly worked with me to come up with new flyweight settings which worked out perfectly.

You will not be disappointed with this combination and both companies are very helpful. In fact, I know that Excell supplied a header to Ulmer for clutch tuning since i bought the parts early last season. I bet Ulmer has even dialed in his clutch kit even further than the new setting that he provided to me...

Changed the heel, middle, and tip weight settings. Secondary settings and primary spring is the same.

I talked to Aaron @ Excell yesterday. He has only 8 Vector/Rage/Nytro exhaust headers left and that will be it. He has no plans at this time to make another batch. If you plan to buy one you better grab it soon!
