I have a 2007 Apex GT. I plug my heated visor shield into my accessory plug and I keep blowing the fuse for the accessory plug. I had a separate plug installed by the local Yamaha dealer and I still blow the fuse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I even tried a 3 amp fuse and they keep blowing. Also it seems that the heated hand grips don't work very well. I've even bought a new visor and had the old one inspected by the Yamaha dealership. They said the visor was working correctly and I'm still having problems withe the new visor and I've changed all the wires to visor and I still can't fix the problem.

i dont think my handwarmers ever worked good but i only have a problem with the plug in when i get snow on them i ran my heated sheild and my gps off the 12 volt plug but now wired a seperate wire for the shield with a 5 amp fuse

Have you checked the visor wires for a short? Maybe the visor element itself is bad? That happened to me last year, I changed the visor, ( Actually bought a new helmet ) and all was good.

If it was installed by the dealer, then they are responsible to figure out the problem ....I have mine directly to the battery no probs
Good Luck Richie ;)!

Electric Shield

Take a multimeter and measure resistance in ohms of the shield's heating element. 12-13 ohms = 1 amp, 6-7 ohms = 2 amps and 3-4 ohms = 3 amps. Your Shield should not pull anywhere close to 2 amps. My HJC element is 12 ohms. I believe the accessory plug is fused at 2 amps. Don't put a larger fuse in place of it, you could overload the wiring and cause the insulation to melt. I use the optional DC outlet plug from Yamaha with my electric shield, it had an LED for power on indication.

LOL

I think that your heated visor has a short. Try someone else's heated visor to see if it still blows fuse.
