The 3A fuse that feeds the accessory plug on my Apex keeps blowing. I only use it to run a faceshield heater. Any harm in upping the fuse size to a 4 amp or 5 amp fuse. Don't know how much current the faceshield draws, but my guess is that it is more than the 35 to 40 watts the 4A fuse provides. Can't understand why Yamha fused this so low? I prefer to have the heater on a switched circuit as opposed to directly to battery, like many have suggested.

how have you hooked it up? I took the factory harness conectiona apart, stripped wires on my shield, rammed the bare wires into the female part of the connector and reconnected the harness. to date, I have had no problems.

I made an adapter that fits right into the cigarette lighter plug. Bought the cigarette lighter plug from radio shack and convereted it to RCA cable jacks to match my shield. Have used this on several other sleds with no problems. I just think the fuse might be too small.

The radio shack trip sounds like a great idea. I'm going there later and put together a plug in with a rca input lead. 5 amp fuse? the little car ones right?

My dealer told me that Yamaha gave them strict order's to not draw any more than (If i remember corectly) 30 watts frome any source. I am thinking it may short the system of power for other important function's. With that in mind you must be drawing more than 3 amp's in order to blow the fuse. I think 3 amp's is about 36 watts. I wouldn't go any bigger of fuse untill you talk to your dealer. kviper

I went diretly to the battery and have an inline fuse. I am using only a 2amp fuse and have had no problems. I also tried 2 different brand helmets.

I hooked both of mine up to blue wire with white line under the handle bar pad and have not had any issues with either rx-1 and the heater works fine. Whne you turn the key off the power goes off on the sheild too.
