All,

I just bought a 2007 Attak this past weekend. It has 2014 miles on it, and looks real nice. When I started it up, it sounded like the exhaust donuts were blown, or the y-pipe was cracked, it was real noisy on what sounded to be the left side. It also seemed to run a little rough, but I thought maybe it was the exhaust, and old fuel.

I pulled the exhaust out of the sled tonight (all of it) and I can not see any cracks, I do not see any soot were things were leaking, all the clamps were tight. It does not look like the exhaust is a issue.

Has anyone run into this before? The sled was definitely noisy, and ran a little rough. Can I have a bad injector or ignition coil causing it to run rough and sound loud.

I have had about 7 of these 4 stoke sleds, 03 RX1. 04 Warrior, 05 RX1(2), I have another 06 Attak, and now this 07 Attak, and I had a APEX GT. There is definitely something noisy here.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Did you pull the Flex pipes off to make sure there were no cracks? Maybe on the bottom out of view? They are the accordion looking dealys coming off the cylinder head. Maybe unbolt them, check them out, blow into them (hold hand over other end to seal) and make sure there are no air leaks, visual or not. Make sure to clean the end you blow into first, otherwise you'll have a silly looking ring of carbon around your lips...haha. Good luck! Post up what ya find.

I inspected the flex pipes, i have them off, i will try to pressurize them tomorrow night when I have some time. I checked them closely, and did not see any cracks in them.

Maybe it's loud due to fouled plugs. Just a thought.

I'll pull them tomorrow, however the previous owner had it at the dealer and they changed the oil and the plugs because it was running rough.

Plugs could foul easy in the 4 Strokes.....i.e, starting the sled, running it, and not letting it come up to normal (or close to normal) running temp before you shut it down. A few others have pointed this out before. If ya have to start it up, let it run for 4-5 minutes, maybe 8-10 if it is cold winter temps, before you shut er down.

Found the culprit. I pressure tested all the pieces, and one of the exhaust flex pipes coming of the engine, the far left one, had a tear in one of the bellows. I need to re-assemble yet, i will update when all finished. Thanks for the idea to pressure test them because one just visual inspection all looked fine. Hard to see crack, i will see if I can post a pic.

Thanks :letsnow:
