So at the end of last season, My 06' Attak seemed to make a rapping, sorta banging sound. Or you could call it....sounded very very rough when cold or if it sat for 10 minutes.
Everyone on the forum came to the thought it was the donuts. I started it up this past weekend after sitting for lets say 5-6 months, took about 30 seconds for the engine to sound normal but overall sounded like a sled that sat for 6 months starting up for the first time..........nothing concerning. Everyone said to take a couple of rags when the sled is up to temp, cover the exhaust and if it stalls..........you donuts ok, if not you have a leak.
Well I covered the exhaust 3 times and it did not stall, but RPM's dropped, engine sounded different like it would die if I left the rags on much longer. I would say I kept the rags on for about 7 seconds max. There was a lot of force on the exhaust coming out, and could feel it leaking through the rag(HOT!). So in the end it did not stall, but it did strain the engine. I am not mechanically inclined to do the donut change my self let alone check it so............do I bring it in the shop? What should this repair cost me if I have an issue? Any other tests I can do? Want to fix the issue before it turns cold and season starts.

can be donuts and/or y-pipes $200+ inc 4 donuts r&r.more if y-pipes are cracked, call if your area for a repair shop that has done them before.could be more could be less.

How many miles are on your sled? My donuts lasted about 4000 miles. When starting it up in the winter you could hear an exhaust leak coming from the mid tunnel area and after it got hot it would get much quiter. They are not that hard to do if have the right tools to do it.

What happened to the idea of Yammi replacing defective exhaust components because of emission laws? Seemed like I saw reference to that a few times late last season. Have they changed/reconsidered now, or was I dreaming when I read it?
