Hey guys. I was out looking for a sled for my wife and found a 2007 Yamaha Phazer with 2,000 miles on it and a studed track no reverse. The rest of the sled is stock. The dealer has it listed for $3250 which seems like a good price. What do you guys think. I ride a nytro and don't know anything about the phazer.
Also the dealer also said he thinks it is posible to get the YES plan on this. Is that true or bs?
Finally he took the sled in on trade. It was a younger woman driver and she hit a man hole cover with it. The dealer says all he had to replace was the chain case cover. I don't quite understand how you would damage that but nothing else. Give me your guys opinions.

I bought the exact same sled for my wife just over a year ago for my wife too. Came acrossed it a dealer in May and he was looking to turn it. I bought my wifes in May of 08 for 3000. It had 1200 miles on it. Was riden by the dealers wife and he turned it. ( Just to give you an idea on what others have paid for the same sled.)
I will same this about that sled, it is a riot to ride. My wife loves hers. Not a speed freak, but a great riding sled. My 15yr old boy always wants to ride it as well. Just make sure the updates are all done.
Not sure how the chain case is the only thing that got damaged though. Would have to inquire a little more on that.
Yes you can buy the YES for it as well. You are just going to pay a little more for it. Shop the prices on that too.....

I think to qualify for YES it has to have a current factory warranty on it -
I can't quite picture how hitting a manhole cover would damage the chaincase cover and nothing but.
I think $3250 for a non-reverse base model with 2 clicks might be a little high.
is this a Yamaha dealer??

It is a yamaha dealer. $3250 was his asking price. I haven't even begun to make him an offer for it. I want to make sure it is a sled my wife will enjoy riding. She has never been up north before. and has only riden with me 2 times around home just ditch banging. So speed really isn't as much of a concern as ride quality, ease of handling, and good hand warmers.

Before you buy it, set on it and stand up looking over the front end. Make sure the skis are on the same plane. If the front end hit a man hole cover hard enough to mess the chain case cover up I bet one of the A-arms are bent. I bent one of mine going 10 mph and hit something. You'll notice one of the skis will be back farther then the other...its usually the upper A-arm

The big ones are the front skid components and the fan.

Have a yamaha dealer run the vin for all the updates..I dont know how long yamaha is going to update 07 sleds. I bought mine new. Look behind the radiator to see if a fan has been installed ( this is a must..your sled will overheat at some point without it). I really can't explain how to check for the rear suspention update..look infront of the rear suspention and see where the front shock mounts to the bottom of the skid..it that pivit is aluminum then the main part of the suspention update has been done. If that pivit is black painted steel..well it's stock component and c ould be cracked

If it is the 07 base FX then the fan is not an update. It is something you have to purchase for 175. Oh yeah and you also have to purchase the entire wiring harness due to the fact that the base fx was not wired for the fan.
The same thing I have had to go through for my wifes sled. I have not added the fan yet. I am lookiing at wiring a toggle switch to the fan and run it that way. But at this time I have just diluted her coolant and ran it. When my wife rides it slow through the trails it will start to overheat. Then I jump on it and ride ir hard for a couple of minutes through the snow and powder, good as new......

I just paid 3900 for an '07 Phazer GT with 800 miles on it for my wife. I've been watching the classifieds since last season, and any better deals than that (and there were only a couple that I saw) were snatched up in a day or 2 around here.
I just bought a fan and tunnel block off kit for it.

the chaincase is very prone to getting f/u imo thats why it broke, there isnt anything to protect it.

Believe it or not the price on used sleds have gone up around here compared to last year. Some people cant even find a new sled since Yamaha cut production. With that in mind the $3200 price is probably a good deal.Make sure you check chaincase is full and no leaks.May even look for welds on the frame member in back of covr.
