Whats everyone think. Im glad to see they kept the 660 grizzly in the lineup. Im not overly impressed wtih the new 700 grizzly yet. They did exactly what I thought they would with the motor but that power stearing worries me. I dont think it is needed. I dont know anyone who has a problem stearing a grizzly. Well I hope to get to ride one soon. I will have to try it out but nothing screams "trade it" to me...

Also is it me or have they all lost their creativity at yamaha. withiin another year there will be nothing but raptors and grizzlys in the lineup. What was wrong with kodiak, or warrior. I am very dissappointed in the nameing of all their machines. Of course thats just a name.

I am not quite sure myself why that did that but it sure helps this forum as GrizzlyInfo.com...LOL

lol... I guess your right. every year there is another grizzly or two in the lineup. Good thing they didnt change all the names to kodiak or we would have to change our name.

I could see them going with power steering for smaller-framed people who complain that the steering is heavy when you have the front diff locked.
As are as the name change, no biggie. They can call it whatever they want, as long as it performs its all good.

I dont think so, I havent been on TY for quite a while.
I know I havent sent you my VIP renewal yet, Ive gotta get around to doing that soon. Things have just been so crazy, what with working 70 hours a week and going to the local MX races to work the pits for a friend of mine.
I'll make sure I get it mailed out to you by Monday, OK?

Like I have been telling everyone on the other forums you have to try the power steering to believe it. When in diff-lock this thing steers like the old Grizzly in 2wd. There have been many times that the handlebars were ripped out of my hands or jerked real hard when you hit a stump, rut or rock. This counteracts this and you don't even notice bump steer without sacrificing feedback. When we rode the new 700 we were able to ride the old 660 after and you were happy to gewt back to the 700. We were riding rough twisty wooded trails and it was the next best thing compared to sliced bread.

Sounds cool Sparky. You got to try them out already? How'd you manage to do that?

My fathe in law owns the local Yamaha dealership so I got to tag along to the dealer meeting in Edmonton Alberta. Here is a pic of the old and new GRizzly side by side.

Who cares what they call them as long as they are a great machine. I am not really concerned of my quad is named Grizzly, Kodiak or Polar bear as long as it runs great. Besides when covered in mud you can't see the name of the quad anyway. The rest of the Manufactures are doing the same Polaris has the Sportsman , Kawi has the Brute Force, and Can-am has the Outlander. It seems to be the way the market is going.

How's the front bumper on the 700? Is there a bumper on the 700? I'm still having a hard time with the looks of the front of it. Maybe it'll grow on me.....

The front bumper is kind of like the Kodiaks. The black part below the headlights is plastic . The two bars that run from the tacks to the frame have metal tube under the plastic. One neat thing that most don't know is the Grill has inserts that can be removed to aid cleaning the radiator.

Hey, dont get me wrong im a yamaha fan but come on. I would like to see something a little different. Its not a big deal it would just be nice if they would put some creativity in their naming. Now everyone has to say what size their quad is or you dont know what they have. It used to be a grizzly was a grizzly and a raptor was a raptor now everyone has a grizzly or a raptor, from 5 year old kids all the way on up.

In the picture of them side by side The 700 dosn't look too bad. I will still have to see it in person though. Im still in favor of the old looks.

I wonder how that electric motor that controls the stearing will hold up in deep water???

I had the same opinion as you with looks but pictures don't do it justice. When I seen it at the meeting I now like the looks better than the old grizzly. The power steering motor is water tight so moisture shouldn't be a problem. I feel confident of this as the servo motors on the front diffs of the Yamaha quads have had little if any water problems other than the connectors which can be fixed with a little di-electric grease. The nice thing is if it does crap out it will steer like the old grizzly as it has a mechanical connection at all times.
