2007 Yamaha RS Rage GT / Vector 136?

The good the bad and the ugly?
Going to look at one this wknd and I know absolutely nothing about these sleds.
Are they more like a Vector or is the Rage part of it a totally different sled?

I would also like to know what to look out for, things to check over and what, if any updates this sled required.

I am currently riding a 95 xlt special and never owned a Yamaha sled before but I believe I am ready for the switch.

The rage is a vector witha 136" skid You will not miss any thing about the Xtra lettuce tomato and crank bearings except the handling what you pay in injector oil in one season will be your fuel expenses for 2 seasons I retired my 96 XLT sp for a 06 nytro and havent regretted it

check for-rear skid pivot arms cracked near welds ,rear skid rails for bending or cracks,oil tank resovoir near mounting tabs for cracks ,ask to listen to the engine on cold start up apparently there is a cam chain tensioner problem causing wide spread panic on this site the noise would be louder on the riht side top of engine, the primary clutch has a rattle that is a non issue it is common nature of the beast, beware of exhaust leaks below the tunnel /fuel tank it is a donut gasket if you are not mech inclined could be labour intensive check for excessive steering slop in handle bars could be a sign of worn front suspension and steering bushings I have a 2006 Nytro which is a short track cousin of the rage and am very happy It will take a learning curve to adjust to a four stroke but trust me youll love it

The sled only has 1900 km's on it? Wondering if the speedo's were easy to disconnect or had a history of breaking?

I rode an 09 Apex last year and loved it, hopefully this Rage is similar but I assume it won't be due to the year difference?

Also I have heard less than stellar things about Yamaha's handling, how does this sled fall into that category and what is the best fix/upgrade for that?

There not hard to set up I put a sway bar shim the skis and had the shocks revalved for my weight . where are you located we miht be neighbors PM me if you have any questions
