Did yamaha improve the hand warmers on the new 2008 Apex's?
I never tried another apex's handwarmers but my 08 warmers are good.I was riding in -11c last weekend for 119 miles and had to turn the warmers down to the third bar as my hands were sweating and very hot.In -30c no handwarmers are that great and that is why I have gauntlets.

The 97-05 Yammie handwarmers woulda fried your hands at -30.

that ws the biggest problem..

Since there isn't a huge amount of traffic on the Phazer Mtn. forum I figured this was a good time to bring this up. At least for the Phazer Mountains they Yamaha have a Bulletin for the handwarmers. It looks like a harness wasn't installed in some or all of the sleds for 08'. You'll have to call your dealer and have them order the part. Thanks to Yel-low (he was the first to discover) we have a fix. I'm not sure what if any other sleds are included but here is the kit number.
kit number: 90891-50150
If someone can post the bulletin or at least list the sleds that apply it may help save the dealers phones from blowing up.

Where did you read that?
If the '08's are still lacking in heat, is our only option for more heat to go with '06 bars?

My guess is they still suck. For a quick check, unplug one of the grips and measure the resistance. If it's in the 7 ohm ranage, they didn't do squat. And if it's not in the 4 ohm range, they didn't do enough...
Welterracer, I doubt they increased the voltage (even though the magazine printed that... but they usually don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground) because the grips were already getting 12-14 volts which is what you get from the battery/generator. What they do is decrease the overall grip system resistance which in turn increases the current... and the current is what makes heat.

I took ROCKERDAN's advice and went back to the 06 bars last year after I flipped the sled and had no issues except toasty hands in cold temps.

The grips on my 08 make my hands sweat at 1/2 setting. No complaints here.

I've got 1800kms so far on my new '08 APEX and handwarmers are ok for days below -10 celcius other wise that you freeze your hands, they don't get half as warm compared to my '05 RX1, my buddy and I where riding 1 night at -27 celcius and I had to stop every so often to warm my hands on the rear exhaust and his warmers where MUCH warmer than mine, he was laughing at me!
The answer to your question is NO!, '08 are not any better!!! I'm kind of disappointed, I woiuld of thought YAM would of fixed this problem by now.
I reported to my dealer and he wants to take a OHMS test and see if its witin SPEC...whatever!!!
So DAN any suggestions...I was thinking of insulatting the bars with srayfoam, filling the ends at the grips, the other thing I thought of doing is running a #12 or 14 wire direct from the battery to the handwarmers for better amperage with a inline relay to shut power off when ignition is turned off.

Mine does get hotter as I increase speed so it's a definate voltage, amp problem. What's needed is adding an extra battery or running heavier wire.
There's got to be someone here that understands how and were the juice come from to feed the grip's to figure this out.
Maybe the sled can't deliver more amp's with the larger wire because it struggles to keep up with demand as it is.
