I have a 09 xtx and a 09 mtx to choose between. (same price)
I have decided to go with the MTX because i would have to replace drivers and track (2"challenger) on the xtx to get it to perform as i want offtrail.
To be honest the xtx with a 2" would suit my riding area better but it would cost me twice as much as the MTX after adding track and drivers.
But the track on the MTX is garbage, the drivers are only decent for a while and the skid's are garbage. What's wrong with your RTX that you don't just order up some OFT extensions and stick a 144 with some avids on that? You would save money, have a better skid, track and drivers. JMO
So you think the RTX skid with extensions is better then the 09 MTX skid for offtrail riding?
Did not know it was that bad.
The reason im not extending my 08 rtx is im getting a really good deal on the XTX or MTX, the track and extension for my RTX would cost me almost as much as one of these sleds.
Both are one year newer and has about 5000kms (3000miles) less milage.
Prices on sleds and accessories are a bit different over here in sweden, Track and extensions cost 12000sek(1900usd) over here. Im putting in 15000sek to get the MTX.
I wish i could pay us prices, a Skinz Black Nytro costs less in the us then a stock MTX 153 in sweden.

I do think a good 144 on a RTX would be better than a stock MTX in all conditions. But, I was curious about pricing there and for only ~500usd more to get a sled with 3k less miles on it does change things a bit. But my theory on the Nytro is, as long as you can keep putting ball joints and bushings in one the miles on it are nothing but something to brag about. I have been thinking about this a while this morn but my opinion would be stick with the RTX it will cost you less to get a better sled for your conditions. That is based off you saying a XTX would be right for your conditions. Since you would be buying drivers anyways you could even go to a 2.5" CE and really clean up on MTX's.
This is coming from a guy who will be on 08's until yamaha decides to build something new though
Not to rub it in but you could damn near fly to MN pick up your track and extension then bring them back as checked baggage for cheaper than 1900 :exc: Thats brutal, but I would love to ride there.
Good luck, as Revster said you can't really go wrong.

Thanks rlcofmn! I have been thinking about this all summer and finally decided to go for the MTX, now you got me thinking again.
What is it about the MTX that is so bad, I have a solution for the wide runningboards, and have heard about the heavy skid and that the maveric track is not so great.
But im thinking that a guy coming from a RTX with a 1.75 track would be satisfied with the offtrail capabilities.
Thats about it on the MTX track and skid. The skids are not just heavy the rails are weak and need stiffer spings. They are not bad sleds just if a 144 is the right track for your area I would just think long tracking yours would be a better option.

Throw on some 2010/11 WRP tuff boards or betterboards and wooph you're rid of the wide running boards.
I got a package deal with extension and track from tracksusa two years ago when i stretched my RTX. It was about 10000 NOK, or 12000 SEK delivered to my door.
The maverick track is useless, so you can count in a new track whichever sled you decide to keep / buy.
