Can anyone explain how/why the NYTRO RTX S.E. is actually 11lbs heavier than the regular Nytro RTX? Both come with the same options (ie. reverse), so is it the shocks which weigh more? Just a curious question on maybe something obvious I could be overlooking?

The rear susp is reinforced but then the tunnel is lower and should be lighter...
thats a good question and since the moderaters of this site are in so tight with yamaha maybe we can get it answered. Mybee the new lightweight tunnel with the larger holes in it is heaver or there are more stiffeners under the foot boards since if you did'nt notice there are not any tunnel stiffeners on top of the floor boards like on all other nytro's
reinfroced rear suspension 46mm 3clicker rear shock clicker front shocks all this must add weight.

SRXGREG... you can have a vacation.... we dont need smart azz comments from you!!!
MrSled - It seemed to me SRXGREG wasn't making a smart #*$&@ remark at all- unless I'm missing something? It looks like a legit question with some seeming correct conclusions.
BTW - Did you get an invite to ride the 09's this year? If so- what do you think?

Well the moderators are not in tight with Yamaha. They know who some of us are because we post a lot, that is about it. I think the SE weighs more because it is beefed up for the intense pounding of snow-X.
Mods sometimes get to ride the prototypes, but then again VIP members do too......that is IF they get some dates set and the snow holds out.
Actually the fastest way to get the weight question answered (and I think I already have) is to post up the question to Chris Reid on Yamaha blogs Canada (link is in the sticky in general)

Yeah, I think the beefed up rear skid (as described on the Web site) and the larger rear shocks, along with the rese's and clickers on the floats will easilly add 11 pounds to the mix. All of which I'm O.K. with, given the rewards.

It's never what is said, but how it's said. I was taken back when I read it, but that's just me and my initial reaction. I can see both sides.

Just to clear up my original question. I def. am not COMPLAINING or saying thats B.S. that its heavier but I'm simply curious. My guess was, just as mentioned on here, that it was due to some reinforcing and the shocks. I will actually be in Newfoundland saturday to ride the new units and will ask at that time. I was just wondering if there was something "obvious" that I may have been simply missing. Thanks for your input guys!!

I also rode the xtx this winter... I started out on the 08 model.. After three miles then I hopped on the 09.. The 09 is much better for control and darts much less... They really helped out the front end.. Did you find it that way also??? MM.

Why you, why you? Just kidding. But please let us know what you think of the RTX SE.
Man I'm already excited about my new sled and I'm still riding the old.... It's going to be a long summer.
