Hi everyone

My friend has an 2009 Yamaha XTX ( purchased from nytro addict) end of last season on the last trip of the season the rear shock in skid (the shock with the two flat metal bars on either side of the shock) has broke. The two metal flat bars on either side of the shock have broken in two on both sides.

My question or questions are can you replace just the metal bars on either side of the shock? or do you need to buy a whole new shock assembly with those bars?

Any suggestions?

you can buy the enitre sled in individual pieces..

the cost....about $100,000 :jump:

The shock broke? or the bars next to the shock broke, or everything broke?

If the shock broke....really no matter what, what the heck happend? If there was a crash then I understand, but if you were just riding it and everything snaped, then you may need to look things over before replacing the bad parts. Something isn't right.

You can't just come on here and say, "hey my rear skid snapped in two can I get parts?" There's got to be a story for this.

might be the limiter straps ripped thats what happened to mine same parts broke :o|

Wow, your front limiter straps snapped and that caused your rear shock to fail? Did the rear coil springs let loose out of the holders or something?

no the way the rear shock couples because of more travel when not held by straps it happend to my friends sled too

Did Yamaha cover this under warranty? The same thing happened to me and the dealer told me it was my fault. I tried explaining to them what I thought had happened, but I had no luck. Cost me $1,500 to get fixed.

XTX limiter strap fix...
Check it out in the FAQ.
Tell the new 2011 Apex XTX owners too!!

mine was out of warranty. all i needed new straps and support brackets for the rear shock there was few nicks on the shock body though from hitting on skid. friends sled got fixed under warranty though by the way straps ripped at the top

How many miles where on these sleds when this happened???

Mine had just over 300 miles. Just make sure you buy an extra set of limiter straps and look on this website, some guys have some really great ideas on how they fixed the problem.
