looking at picking up an 09 I haven't seen it yet guy says reverse doesn't work. Is there a common issue with the reverse on these?

The most common issue is the linkage not adjusted properly. Too much freeplay.looking at picking up an 09 I haven't seen it yet guy says reverse doesn't work. Is there a common issue with the reverse on these?

I have had 4 Vectors so far & the only thing I can tell you is that if someone was inside of the chain case they may have not have re-aligned the linkage on the outside of the case or didn't put everything back together on the inside. Also if your drive belt is to tight you will have a problem getting it in reverse. If the handle will not move into the reverse position, with the machine running rock the machine back & forth & try putting it in reverse.

50% of the time with the machine running, it probably won't go into reverse. Just turn the sled off, and put into reverse. It seems any pressure in the chain case prevents it from going into reverse in my experience.

Stating that a machine will probably not go in to reverse 50% of the time is not a statement that applies to these sleds.
Obviously you have a big problem on your machine that needs to be corrected.

Obviously, as usual, someone on here has the only sled that works 100% of the time. Must be nice to own such a fine piece of engineering. Unfortunately, mine must have been made on a Monday. Has always been that way, even after the techs adjusted it. And before you say they obviously don't know how to adjust it properly, they do, they have, and it's just one of the many small problems with this sled, and I know how to live with it.Stating that a machine will probably not go in to reverse 50% of the time is not a statement that applies to these sleds.

It is correct that even when adjusted properly, they may not go into reverse. This is just because the teeth on the gears are not lining up. A blip of the throttle or two to inch the machine ahead is the solution. After each nudge forward, simply try it again, it will go into reverse.
However, the original post was that the reverse didn't work at all. There could be so much freeplay that the gear isn't engaging, or as someone else suggested, the chaincase has been apart, and the fork is not in the groove.
