2010 front end bent

subframe beefed up

The welds I'm not proud of as the welder was acting up. Here are some pictures of top and bottom. After these pics I added a few welds and one half inch hole to drain water. Then put rust nuetralizer on it and painted it. The metal is 1/8 inch that I used and I added three pieces over the thin Yamaha one.

Just curious, how do you know these gussets are installed where they will provide the greatest advantage? And, what type loading are you attempting to support?

Look-out the engineer is at it again...But seriously he raises a good point.

I know I am no engineer but Yamaha has a bunch of them and they can't get it right!!! I am just a man with tools and I know what keeps bending so I am preventing! Yamahas solution each year is a plate but it is a wimpy one so I took there ideas along with there race sled subframe and did my best with what i had. Just beefing up what they have designed.

My 2010 frame bent also. The 2010 plates are thicker but they still wrinkle...

So would i be able to get Yammi to cover mine if i take it to a dealer?? Mine looks exactly like ^^...WTF i thought it was something i hit not a problem with Yammi design...now i'm pissed!!

My LH ski is back about 3-4 inches from the RH side, you can really tell when you look @ the spindle...any advise on how to bend it back?? Or will Yammi cover it?

If you can look at your sled and see no signs of hitting anything and you have a good dealer it can be done. It took a lot of phone calls to Yamaha customer relations and some time but they did cover most of the cost. You have to be persistant and don't take no for an answer!

In your picture it looks as though this piece is replaceable?? I have that same crincle on the plate...I wouldn't even know where to pull from to try and straighten it back out??

There is guys on here that have straightened them and also rewelded them. Try a search you can learn alot. One took the entire subframe out and measured everything out and rebent it. Others have put a strap on the lower a-arm and hooked it to a tree in front of the sled and took another strap and put it on the upper a-arm and pulled it lightly with a truck back. It seems to get them by but seems kinda risky.

WTF.....That sound risky but its worth a shot....i tried a search but couldn't find the threads....i was thinking using a porta power and securing the rear and pulling on the lower a arm....did any of these show pics?? I appreciate the help YamaMTX

yeah, many have pictures. Grimm did his subframe by measuring/rebending and did a nice job. Also welded in new plates and repainted.

Im thinkin i want to go with a 2010 subframe now after reading that thread!! So was it a pain to replace??
