I've been out of riding for a couple years. My last sled was a 06 Attak. I loved it although it was a tad heavy off trail. I'm planning on buying a new Yamaha and would appreciate any advice on which sled I should buy. I ride all over Michigan. About half trail and half off trail. I'm torn betwen the Apex LTX and the Nitro XTX??????????? :4STroke:

I'm still riding my '06 Attak and love it but the next sled I buy will be an XTX or something lighter/ better off trail.
Hope this helps.

Having an 07 attak and 09 XTX in the stable, if you are a true 50/50 definately i would get the XTX.... the ltx is a better trail ride but off trail the xtx is much better and is still good on the trails as well.

my $.02

Ya I wouldn't buy right now unless I absolutely could not wait.. And Im a tried and true, groomed trail and high speed lake rider so for me it would be the apex.. for you I think the nitro xtx would be a better choice...

There a guy in the classified that has both an Attak and XTX and is selling one of them........He's selling the XTX. That tells me he prefers the Attak.

He loves the XTX, hes wife doesnt

We have them both and it is great! My son has the Nytro as he is a motocross nut and loves the Nytro ride as it better fits his style of ATV-like racing. I love the APEX for the overall power and speed but in the woods the Nytro is a lot of fun. Depends on your riding style but they are both awesome sleds and you will love either sled like I do!! :yam:

His wife has an Attak and it's too heavy for her. So he is taking the Attak and selling the XTX to buy her something like a Phazer. That tells me he prefers the Attak otherwise he would just sell the Attak to begin with.

Depends on what ya ride.. I avoid bumps. I don't like moguls, I don't like to jump. I like to stay planted on the ground, run down the lake at break neck speeds, and zip through twisty smooth trails on and off the throttle at a fast rate. for me, the apex is king...

If you like to hit moguls, if you would rather hammer down a narrow trail that is beat to hell with tons of bumps... If you like to jump.... then Id say the apex is not for you... go with something lighter and better mated for that type of terrain...

Yes I chose the Attack over the XTX for various reasons. I really do love a lot of things about the XTX... riding position, narrow seat that holds you in place, quickest sled I have ever had up to 85MPH, handles the big bumps great. When my buddy on his 05 Vector has more top end then me ... not good...when he can stay on my #*$&@ in the twisties ... not good. The XTX has poor top end and I just can't get it to carve a trail. I will say it's alot better with the triple rate springs. Here is the thing about the XTX you have to ride it like a motorcycle.. set your corner speed and either hold or accelerate through the corner. I think I could probably get the XTX to carve by removing the 1/2 inch spacer from the triple rate springs and get new ski's. The last factor is money. I don't owe much on the Attack and the XTX I do. In the current world (US) economy it's the better choice to sell the XTX.
Ok the attack I had an attack until my son crashed it and then I wanted to try the XTX since I still had an Attack that the wife hardly rode. I have always loved the Attack, I know how to set it up to rail and it's a fast sled. I ride groomed trails only and the Attack is just better at groomed wide UP trails.
I did race the wife last weekend... her on the Attack and me XTX. I have about 100 pounds on her and the XTX killed the Attack out of the hole but, when I looked in the mirror at 90 MPH she went by me like I was standing still.
Both great sleds XTX is just harder to get to perform as a trail sled only (it's a cross over sled) but that's just my .02

I have both sleds,both 144 with expert x skids,1 3/4 backcountry tracks,powderhounds,you cant beat the 4 cyl for torque,will leave the 3 cyl,like its standing still,its a give and take,nytro needs more power,installing stage 2 turbo know,attack is a way better for long trail rides,just my .02

rhoag, I didn't mean to speak for you, I just wanted to help this guy out and knew your stance on the 2 sleds.
