I currently have a 2006 apex gt with hygear shock setup all around sled is awesome in studders and close together bumps but on large g-outs and large bumps placed far apart the sled cant handle it and i have to slow down. I have ordered a 2010 nytro rtx se and now I cant decide if I should get it or not or wait until feb to see what yamaha and everyone else comes out with. I know if I get the se that I wont be happy with the power I have test rode them a couple of times and just feels like a lot less power than the apex. So I was thinking of ulmers 210 turbo. Anyways by the time I add rear heat exchanger, OFT steering relocator, running board stiffiners, turbo, gauges, clutching, gearing, rear springs, skis, shock revalve ect. I will have 16 to 18 grand into this thing. I know it will be a fun sled but if I have that kind of money into it I will want to keep it for a long time and i will be upset if yamaha or someone else comes out with something totally awesome in feb what does evrybody think I should do. I rode an 05 rev x for 8000 mi. so I kindof know how the sled will handle with hi center of gravity. I need some advice from people that have had apex or rev and now own nytro. are you happy with it, are you planning on keeping it a long time or are you just waiting to get something new.

I bought a 2008 nytro brand new in 08. Never test rode it or anything, just took some peoples word for it that i would like it. This was coming off an 06 polaris fusion 600.
Long story short i love the sled, and until this year i have not put much into it. rebuilt shocks, no revalve or anything, made some fine adjustments here and there, 8 inch carbides on stock skis, made a 2 in riser for bars, and exhaust. i have 6K on the sled and still love it. great power for trail riding. IMO corner to corner trail riding your not gonna be dissappointed with the power compared to an apex.

Have you considered switching your rear suspension for something like a sc-10 III? Maybe a 136 to help bridge the stutter bumps more? I drove my buddies and my cousins attack a couple hundred miles the last two seasons and I think that would make the machine alot more capable. Just a thought. I know some guys here on ty have done it.

I had a Rev 800 for 4 years, had an Apex for 1 year, and now I own two FX Nytro's, so that should tell you something. If you want all out speed, the Apex is faster on top end, but a well set up FX Nytro can hang with an Apex decently well if not beat one in a 1000' drag, I know becasue I've beaten quite a few with mine. Corner to corner, no comparison, the FX Nytro hands down, and as far as ditchbanging goes, that FX Nytro RTX SE is as good as it gets. I'd stick with your SE for this year and wait and see what Yamaha comes out with this Feb just like the rest of us. No sense missing out on an excellent sled this year by waiting for something that probably won't happen like other years.
Enjoy it now, life's too short !

If anything, there will be an Apex replacement. The Nytro and Apex are not the same sled. You don't need to turbo the Nytro to run with an Apex. Get the Ulmers stage 4 package and it will run with an Apex or very very close... Then wait and see what comes out.. If something comes out. Sell the parts and sell the sled...srx900 said:I currently have a 2006 apex gt with hygear shock setup all around sled is awesome in studders and close together bumps but on large g-outs and large bumps placed far apart the sled cant handle it and i have to slow down. Sounds like you want to spend alot of money. I had an Apex for two years and went to the SE last year. Night and day difference for my type of riding. This sled will handle anything you throw at it in terms of suspension. not sure you will need to upgrade on that. First 600 feet it will keep up with anysled out there. I have an Ulmer Stage 1 kit with the Excell full exhaust and Riding with Apex's is a joke because they cannot handle the rough stuff like a Nytro. But if you a full out lake burner the nytro is a great sled but may not be for you.

my 2 cents...
Get the Nytro RTX SE
Riide it stock or just slightly modded this year
IF somthiing new and better comes out next season, just make a trade at the dealer... IF NOT then hey its turbo time!
if you spend 18grand on the sled this year you will likely not get it all back on a trade or private sale next year (like you said you would like to keep it for a long time with that investment). If you get rid of the sled next year for something new, with a trade in you will likely minimize the amount you will be loosing and still have spent way less than 18 G's.
That is if you can go a winter without boost. But you wouldl still have one of the best ditch banging sleds on the market!

Dude, get the Nytro. By far the best sled for riding on Tug Hill. This sled handles a saturday on Tug Hill hands down. you won't be disappointed buying the Nytro.

Just noticed that you are from Oswego, IF you ride the Hill alot on Saturday afternoons I can tell you the SE will handle anything that the trails dish out. That is actually the best time to ride for me now because I am in awe of what this sled can do on such beat up trails. The rider position is exceptinal. From an engine stand point I don think there will be many that can keep up with you up there unless the trails were just groomed because the suspension will out handle most sleds if set up right. I would highly recommend the SE, add a few goodies to it like a full exhause system and a good clutch kit and you will be very happy.
