last night 8 or 9 of us had our annual King of the Lake contest. 660 ft drags on stiff pack snow (not really hardpack). 2010 Nytro XTX never lost a race. Results were determined after about 12 drags:

K.O.L. - 2011 Nytro XTX Bone stock
2nd place - 2008 Apex LTX GT 40th (Me)
3rd place - 2007 Crossfire 800
4th place - 2008 Rev Renegade X
5th place - 2010 Z1 Turbo Cat (????)
6th place - 2001 SRX 700
7th place - 2008 600 TNT (baloney skin track)
8th place - 96/97 Vmax 4 (Mint and race ready)

I wanted to race 1000 ft. like last 2 years when I came out on top both years.
The Nytro is very impressive. Everyone was talking about it all night, and of course we talked alot about how slow the big cat turbo was too. Today we might line up 1000 ft. race.

good job ;)!

I lean her forward as much as I can with control rod, soften front shocks to the max, rear EC suspension is set at lowest at start of race ( I stiffen it to the max after takeoff, seems to work at last 200 feet of race you get better speed with rear suspension stiffest). Everything is greased and track is loose but no ratcheting. i also use a belt with 2000 miles on it (my lucky belt I guess just for drags). Nytro was 4-5 sleds ahead of me at start but i'm reeling him in at about 500 ft, if race was 750 it would be tie IMO.

those Nytro's are real fast for short distances

Not taking anything from the Nytro but it doesn't seem like the big sleds had a chance to get their legs on!!

Yup I agree, BUT the fastest I seen the Nytro go was after the last race, when he was going off the lake back to the garage where all our wives were so he could brag about his wins. Last 2 years his F7 and F8 didn't do didly so he was pumped LOL.

Interesting results. I'm guessing you couldn't hook out of the hole as well as the XTX. 2 weeks back I ran a black one (must have been a 2011) on a rock-hard packed lake and I got the holeshot and ran away from him

I would also consider re-naming your race if it's only 660 feet.

The King of the Lake race name stays the same as it has since about 1975 when Gilles Villenueve and the Alouette race team came to my hometown and raced/tested. That year there wasn't any snow till end of January and the bay was glare ice. Us kids got paid 25 cents/stud that we found on the lake after they were done racing. The distance of the race varies depending on who shows up, temperature and conditions. 1000 ft, 1/4 mile 660 ft, we've even had 5-mile X-country lake and land races. It's all fun and tradition and of course bragging rights too.

And yes I was not hooking up as best as I could have but the Nytro is impressive. The Crossfire actually had the best hole shot (1.5 inch paddle) but faded fast.

1.325 I think, not the 1.45 This is the first and only sled i've ever had to put studs on, not too familiar with them.

Very interesting. Sounds like that nytro is a rocket out of the hole. Very rare that a 2 stroke sled(crossfire) will get the holeshot and still loose in only 660 feet, usually when they get the holeshot it takes a good 1000 feet to catch em. Always fun though. We race on Cranberry Lake all the time but I don't like to line up unless we have at least 1000-1500 ft of good race track. I like to let the apex stretch her legs, seams to be when I do most of my winning.. Yamacharger next year so I will be doing alot more winning then..... YEEE HAWWW

I have not had the same results with the XTX either. I get the holeshot and motor on. I have not ran a nytro that was as fast down low as I have been reading on the forum.....
