2010 Vector Auxiliary power for snow coach heater

Hey Gang

Does anyone have experience with running auxiliary power to a 12v heater in my snow coach. I know the amps from the plug by the gages does not have enough amps. I was wondering if there was a separate wires or maybe go direct to the cables that are for charging the battery?

Also, I have read a lot about exhaust donut issues with some of the other models. Will have eventually have this issue with my 2010 vector? Or did Yamaha fix that problem.

Cant wait to drive this sled!

You could splice into your 12volt outlet (or any other keyed power source) and use that as a signal wire to close a relay that feeds power straight from the battery, or just manually switch power straight from the battery?
 
I would run a fused line with an on/off switch direct to your battery. As NSledder suggested, you could use a relay so that whenever the sled is running, the coach has power.

Kids just got to have those smartphones charging all the time don't they??!! LO!!! <joking!>

As to the donuts, I have heard that Yamaha has improved them over the years but that's all I know. Easy to test to see if they're good or not. With the sled idling, put your (protected somehow) hands over both exhausts at the same time. If the engine dies, the donuts are good. If the engine stays running, they should be changed.
 
I realize that you can work with a relay to get around the limits of one of the fused circuits,
but while we're on the subject, can someone tell me the alternator output of this sled?

I just bough a new snowcoach so I have been researching online and learned lots about them so far.

Most of the time when someone is trying to add heat to them its before they have actually tried them. The ones that have say the kids are toasty warm even remove their tuques and mittens when the sun hits. Without the wind the shell seems to retain allot of the body heat also. Which is why they have vents in the back so the windows don't fog up with humidity.

If you still decide to add heat I have read all kinds of contraptions from 12 volt heater (not enough btus) to running the hot antifreeze from the engine to a rad inside. The best idea I though was a small yamy or honda generator on the optional rear metal rack of the snowcoach.

would a 12v car seat heater be enough? keep their backside warm and the rest of them should stay warm.
 
on the older model yamahas im pretty sure they sized the stator to about 80% capacity leaving 20% extra and thats with everything drawing what it theoretically could max.

unless that heater is drawing 3 or 4 amps MAX (which i highly doubt) then i definitely would not be hooking it up. Rockmeister on here can answer it better then any of us, but im pretty sure he will say the same thing

i like the idea of the coolant circulated to a rad, but you still have to power a fan on the rad and having to connect/disconnect it everytime would be a major hassle.
 
A couple of months ago I bought a Honda generator eu3000is. After remodelling the home I need to reinstall the generator. My electrician is not here and I don’t want to hire anyone else as they charge a lot of money. I am thinking to install it on my own. Can you tell me if I should connect it to A/C power or should I wait to come back my electrician?

lol yeah, #1 you never hook a generator like that to ANY sort of incoming voltage, much less a single leg of 115 or worse 208. They charge a lot of money because they know what they are doing, if you do it wrong and burn your house down over some $ then what.

either wait for your electrician friend or call a pro, don't attempt that yourself
