For anyone who may be interested, Ran against an 800 etec, studed and clutched by the same crew that setup the old forge shootout sled and it was out of breakin mode. I was at about 200 mi on the SE turning about 10,100rpm bone stock no clutching or studs. On packed snow from the holeshot I pulled about 4 sled lengths and stayed right like that until we let off in the 95mph area. I be studing it once it's broke in and pulling 10,500 rpm or better then we'll give the ice a try.

Interesting.

Transfer rod & limiter strap setting?

I have not run an E-Tec yet.

VS a 2010 800 PTek from 15 MPH rolling start I pull him all the way and get 5 lengths in 1000 feet and just keep pulling away up top.

From a dead stop he shoots out two lengths and then I reel him in. I am set for handling at present with only 1/4 transfer and up 2 holes on limiter strap. That was with 550 miles , 102 studs, softpack snow and 10,300 rpm.

The sled is sneaky fast. Does not feel like it is pulling but goes like hell. Much better in snow than my 06 GT.

I think I will try and make it quick this weekend so was wondering where you have things set for hook up.

Holy balls, quarter transfer and two holes up on limiter and you are running that well, sounds pretty sweet.

Still have not made any changes to the stock set up so I would assume the limiter strap is on the last hole (most transfer) and I think saw the transfer rod in the middle, just as shipped from the factory. Once I stud it I'm sure I'll need to pull limiter up a hole or two to get it through the turns. I weigh about 225 so that must also help to plant rear end and get it out of the hole quick.

Thanks.

Yes those are the stock settings.

Yes you will need to adjust limiter at least one with the studs. I did.

Well I ran the same sled again this past weekend on snow, same result....Seems to me the Apex should have come out on top at the Old Forge shootout......

My buddy has a e tec renagade and i have the apex xtx. bouth sled are bone stock. And il be honest with you guys from dead stop i have no chance at all every race from dead stop the e tec would put at least 5 sleds and i cant catch him even in a 1000 feet. Now if we race from a 30 roll we stay even till 90 then i would creap away but not by much. Those e tecs r no joke. My xtx has 1200 mi mon it so its broken in.

I haven't tried against a etec gade, but I' ve tried against a etec summit freeride, the 300 first ft we were dead even, from that good bye, the summit has'nt a chance. I also tried against a gade XR1200, he was behind from start, at 660ft i will think he was 6-7 sledlenghts behind. I tried against a Nytro XTX, behind from start, at 660ft I will think he was around 7-8 lenghts behind. We are all driving without studs, but I have a 1,75" track. The same at the XR1200 gade. The Summit I think had a 2,25" track and the nytro 1,25"track.
I think you have some big problems with your traction. I have never seen and driven a faster sled for a 1000ft race, than the Apex XTX. I also tried against a supercharged 06 Apex Warrior with a 1,75" track. He couldn't get out of the hole like mine XTX, and he couldn't catch me in in 660ft, but I saw he had alot better speed after 660ft than me, so I'm sure he would have catched me in after 800ft, but we were out of room

So you like your new deep lug track better then the 1.25 track? I have the stock track and 173 studs and it still dont hook up. i mostly ride on trails and boondock. what is your opinion? should i go with 1.75 track? thanks

I think the 1,75" track is perfect. I'm not sure what kind of track this is, because I ordered it with the sled.
I think it's a Bakcountry Camoplast, But I can have a look if it's of interest.

Transfer rod & limiter strap setting is at stock setting

I think im going to try the crossover 1.5 looks very agressive. what do you guys think ? its a new track for this year. tracks usa has it , check it out. let me know what you guys think. thanks

I have been reading these types of posts all season and to me it sounds like the 128" Apex is the fast one more so than the XTX.......unlike in years past where the Attack/LTX usually got the nod over the 121 Apex.
