I kind of agree with knappattack that the skis suck on this sled and don't make it rail. I have 8" slim jim duallies on it now and it pushes bad and still darts.
I was wondering if you can put the older Apex skies on the 2011 Apex.
I liked the way the old skies and the snowtrackers made the sled rail in the corners.
Do you think that would help?

God no are the 2011 Apex skis worse than the 06 - 10 Apex skis!
But I am impatiently waiting for some TY'er to try out some after market skis on the 2011 Apex. C&A's, Slydogs (Viper Dave? ), and Simmons Gen 1's and 3's specifically......

Got 'em on mine! Straight bolt on.Running 8" Bergstrom Triples with 3/8 skisaver and a 1/4 shim. Rail, no. Predictable, yes. I'll be trying my C@A Ultras off my Viper after this next trip. Something wide and WAY more aggresive !! I THINK these will work for me with the power steering.
Viper Dave so you are saying I can put the old skis on and be okay. I thought they moved the skies back.
If that is the case I may have just found the answer for the handling.

Yes, the new ski and old ski interchange. Wanted to try the Sydogs but can't bring my self to pull them off the Attak. The Ultras are 7" with a stright keel. I'll be putting them on when I get back from Muni. I've made a shim already to adapt the 2011 ski rubber to fit these, just didn't have time to switch them out before I leave tomorrow.
Can I put the new skis on the 2010 Vector GT LTX?

Going to ride the new XTX this weekend for the first time, bone stock, no studs (thats anohter story). I've got a pair of Gen 1 Simmons from my 06 GT that i will probably go to if they "suck". Got my eye on Gen 3, dealer is looking into it for me, hoping not to have to spend another $400 + on skis!!
save the $400 and spend $800 on the split skis.

2011 skis
While looking through my owner's manual, I saw that the front shocks on the XTX are factory set to minimum/soft. This sure doesn't help the front end handling much. I've had good luck in the past shimming skis and using Bergstrom carbides. Haven't tried to work the bugs out of them on my XTX as yet.
I put on a set of Simmons skis and put 2 turns in the front shocks. Already had them from another sled. Didn't touch anything else and the sled is like a slot car. I do have a 13mm sway bar on it's way to help with body roll. It sticks so well in the corners I feel like it will roll.
Just sharing experience.

You guys might want to try working on your setup before buying new skis. My stock skis are great on the SE. Seems like most of the complaints are comming from XTX owners??

I just don't see how the new skis could be worse than the old skis!!!
I mean those old (06 - 10) stock skis were really bad, how can you guys believe the 2011 skis to be worse than the old ones?????!!!!!!

I am not saying they are worse. I am just saying that they don't handle like the older skis with the snowtrackers on them. Rather than buying another set of snowtrackers I can just swap skis between two sleds then I would do that but if I have to buy another set I may wait and try the split skis.

I put C&A razors with Stud boy Duece bars. Zero Darting and it cornered very well. I had the strap in the stock spot. I could pull it up two or three spots and it would be even better.

This is why I pointed out that the XTX's have the front shock springs set to the minimum/soft setting from the factory. My front bumper sits 2" lower than previous Apexs. Cranking up the springs will surely help the steering and roll of the XTX's.
