So I am the proud "new" owner of a 11 Vector GT. I bought her used and it came with a set of mirrors new in the box with seemingly all the hardware but alas no instructions. I have researched and googled just about everywhere I can think of to find a set of install instructions. I see there is a thread here for the Apex/Attack install but not one for the Vector. I also see the consensus is that the factory mirrors suck but I would like to give it a try. The part number for the kit is 8FP-W2628-03-00. Any help would be appreciated

They don't work. Known issue. Believe me. What I found by accident while sitting on a apex for sale is it had Polaris Tall Indy style mirrors mounted on the outer panel. They work fine. Installed them on about 7 Apexs over the years. Get them on Ebay. $40 per set. See the picture

Is the main problem with the factory mirrors is that they sit too low on the cowl? Did you use the rubber well nuts on the install or just a direct mount with some nuts and bolts? Do you have to get into an awkward position to see behind you with the Polaris style mirror?

The oem's are lower a bit but can't compound swivel. The Indy's compound swivel. Direct mount with the bolts supplied. No you do not need to get in an arkward position really. I like them better then Bug eye types. When cornering you have view as well as no branches take them out. Covers fit fine as well as low clearance under road tunnels,etc.

Above photos show YAMAHA OEM mirrors mounted to handlebars, on my 2014 SRVIPER LTX LE. I have them on a 2011 VECTORLTX GT, 2018 VIPER LTX DX, and a 2019 SIDEWINDER LTX DX. They provide the best visibility I’ve ever had with sled mirrors, no vibration, and you can see what’s behind you with just an eye glancing look,

Hank does the mirror swivel only where it meets the stem on top? Does it swivel/move fairly easy? I noticed the factory mirrors I have are EXTREMLY stiff to move/swivel. I use aftermarket gauntlets when it gets cold, do you think the style mirror you have would prevent me from using gauntlets?

Snow freak;
I also use gauntlets on all 4 sleds, the gauntlets do not cover the mirror mounts, (see picture). The are very versatile in terms of making adjustments. The mirror swivels , as well as locks at the base near handlebar, I strongly suggest that you “fine tune” your setup, before any long term trips. Just my thoughts from over 40 years of riding experience . LOL

I have those same mirrors on both my Vectors. Best mirrors I have ever used on a sled. Basically Motorcycle style mirrors.

My first Yamaha was the 2011 Vector like yours, and I added the mirrors that Hank is referring to; they were the best mirrors I had ever had on a snowmobile, and I was able to take them and retrofit them to my new Viper. They may not be the prettiest mirrors on the trail, but they are the most effective.

Well that sucks I came on looking for a set of install instructions and left with an order for the factory Yamaha handlebar mount mirrors. You guys got me convinced these things are the best thing since sliced bread. Thanks for the input. It's kind of funny because before I bought this sled there were a couple others that had those plastic buttons to cover the holes where the mirrors went. I didn't think much of it but in afterthought the prior owners must have tried the mirrors and took them off after they found they didn't work out so well.

Snow freak;
You will not regret ordering those mirrors!
The cowl mount type vibrate to the point you can’t use them effectively, as they blur your rear view to the point where you have to turn your head around, to observe something that may have distracted you, not a safe thing to do!
They can possibly tear out off the cowl.
The mirrors that mount on the windshield, also vibrate to much, I’ve seen those damage a windshield.
These two styles only satisfy the requirement for mirrors, that are mandatory, in some areas. A good example is Canada, where mirrors are mandatory.
Handlebar mounts are easily interchangeable.

Good luck with your new ride!
I still have my ‘11 VECTOR LTX GT

I mounted these factory mirrors more forward on the cowl and turned them upward and they work well plus I like the look better than the handlebar mirrors.

I mounted the Yamaha Handlebar mount mirrors. I use Skinz Heatloc Handguards trail series. Handguards . Mirrors are great and thanks to Yamaha hand warmers with stock windshield. All is good! Best mirror hand guard setup I have ever used!

Banjo Man, I ordered the factory handlebar mount mirrors but I'm not going to lie I like the way you have your mirrors mounted. They match your headlight angle and look good mounted like that. Can you take a quick glance to see what's behind you or do you have to position yourself a certain way to see behind? Any chance of a few close up shots just to get a better idea where exactly they are mounted onto the cowl. BTW sharp looking sled!!
