2011 XTX Vibration in drivetrain

I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what is causing a vibration on my 2011(new this year) XTX with 1500km's. When I accelerate hard, between 40km/h and 80km/h I get a vibrating/rumble which feels like it's coming from the track or driveshafts beneath me. Before and after those speeds it seems to smooth out which is weird. The drivetrain (not engine) just doesn't feel smooth between those speeds for some reason. At cruising speeds with little throttle the machine is very smooth, the issue just comes up on hard acceleration.

Do all Nytro's maybe do this?

I've tried a brand new belt and tightened the track to Yamaha spec hoping one of those would be it but it's still there. Could this be a bearing maybe? You'd think if it was a bearing it would vibrate all throughout the acceleration range?

The sled is still on warranty so I'm hoping to figure this out before it expires.

Thanks for any help

I have the same feeling on my MTX but I think what I am feeling is the idler wheels . I changed mine up to 135mm wheels to save the sliders. I can really feel it when I am making a slow speed turn around on a hard trail. Don't notice it after 40 or 50 kph. I was thinking the same as some of you with a bad drive bearing but 3 other Nytro's I drove that day did the same thing. Not that I have inspected the bearing, I will also look into that just to be sure but I hope it is still good with only 600 miles on the bearings.

If its not your drive bearings it could be your wheel bearings on one of them. If you have the rip saw track on it it could be that track. A real hard packed or icy trail base give off a bit of vibe from that rip saw. Check your drive shaft as well. Could be bent from a large chunk of ice.

Thanks Gents!

Dimebag, when you say it was a bad PTO side bearing, was it vibrating only on hard acceleration like mine? Is there an easy way to check the bearings for play or damage without ripping the chaincase appart?

Whats the best way to check the driveshaft to see if it's bent? I'm assuming on a trackstand?

Thanks

Does anyone have any advise on how do approach the dealer with this issue as it's still under warranty. I have a feeling they won't take anything appart to check and just tell me that it's normal and to keep riding it. I definitely don't feel this is a normal feeling like the design of the track. I've had a bad bearing on a previous sled and it feels similar but quite as intense. (Other sleds bearing had came appart)

I guess what I'm trying to ask is Yamaha warranty pretty much the same as say a new car warranty? Will they check it out free of charge or will they bill me for their time if they don't find anything?

I would say it depends on your dealer. It is pretty easy to get at the clutch side bearing on the drive shaft. 6 bolts I think and the bearing plate comes off. You can pop the seal out with a good pick and then have a look to see if it is rusty, or has water in it, or all is good. If you have a good dealer that takes care of their customers then you may not get charged for not finding anything wrong..

Makes sense, I'll give them a call and bring it in. Thanks

First thing I would do is try and change your belt. They tend to make weird noises if they are going bad. Easy and cheap check cause you should already have a spare. Shane

Had the same thing last year. Turns out the rail extension for the XTX was loose, and allowed the track to jump the cogs under acceleration.
