Within the planning cycle there are many course corrections and macro plans but this is big picture stuff. Our product plan goes out several years. 2009 is a done deal, 2010 is in the ‘can’, 2011 will be the main focus of discussion, as early prototypes are already being tested.

i think they just mean how far ahead they work on the product lineup. i don't think it necessarily means how the MY is stacking up. they are always a few years ahead. i know they started working on the viper when the sx700 came out and the rx1 i think started in the late 80s
 
It takes yamaha about 5 years to develop and test there sleds.I went to a yamaha training seminar back in 2000 and got to see the rx1 motor then.They also had the chassis there but they wouldnt show me that as it was only a prototype,but the motor was a done deal.Also in 1995 i seen a 700 triple fron yamaha is a tss chassis.that was pretty strange.I didnt believe the guy when he told me what he had then he showed me.Shane
 
i've see pics somewhere of a 4 stroke engine in either an exciter or phazer. i think it was back when they debut the rx1. the apex was on the drawing boards when the rx1 came out i'm sure
 
I agree I dont think that means 11 will be a big year. They re just saying the prototype production is shifting from 2010 to 2011. The 10's will be released in just about 3 months so they re starting to finalize actual production on the 2010 model years.
 
I'd be willing to bet the 2010 Apex has a new body style, variable intake system, and is heavier..
