Stopped by my dealer today, they were just rolling out a 153' nytro with the factory push turbo. What a good looking clean setup. I was really impressed, talked with the mechanic, it was his first one and he figured he had about 10 hours into it, and in case anyone wants to know, listed on the floor at 14k.

Yamaha is using ap all the Push turbo's then they are switching to the Mpi turbo systems.

I hadn't heard that, wonder what the reason is for the change.

There is an article in the latest SnoWest that lists 4 reasons for the switch (they interviewed Rob Powers from Yamaha)

1. MPI uses Mitsubishi turbo
2. MPI uses an oil pump instead of vacuum to get oil to/from turbo
3. Stainless steel mounting plate instead of stock muffler bracket to mount the turbo
4. MPI uses 3 mounting spots for the charge tube and an extra muffler mount

From what I heard last winter there were no issues with the Push turbos that I saw/rode on the snow and spoke to guys about. The 2011 that I rode had a Push and it ripped! I'm sure the MPI ones will too.

You guys would definatly know more than I would, a flatlander from MN. I was suprised to even see one here just thought you guys might be intersted, thanks for the info.

so is the sled set up to run in Minn.?
thought the turbo's were for high altitude 6000 ft plus?

I've been wondering myself about this elevation 'base'
I spoke with a guy from MPI about running their stage 1 on premium only (near revelstoke 3000 & up)
He says not a real big deal as long as you watch your temp.
Reasoning being that you're mostly going up logging roads etc until approx 5000-6000' anyways. After that, you're high enough that the lower octane gas isn't a major issue. Just watch your temp always and you're okay.

Also, I like that you can lower the boost and run it on pump gas.

There is about 6 sleds I know of at elevation running the push turbo.

Pro116 would that be on pump gas and how much boost? I'm looking at doing turbo or supercharger next yr but don't know what I can run at low elev.

What elevation? Wisconsin trails?

Wisconsin and michigan. The push turbos from yamaha are non adjustable that come 5-6lbs(180hp).The elevation varies in wi to mi from seal levels to about 1200ft.
Pats yamaha in Mi I heard set 5 of them up.If you go to pushs website they have a conversion also to run safely rather then on the edge.
