so was on the net the other day an stumbled on a pix of where the rear skid is suposed to be bolted into tye tunnel. mine was stock at front was in top bolt an rear was in top bolt. the diagram i saw said bottom bolt front an middle bolt rear. i moved it down yesterday but we have no snow to see any difference and try. it naturally sits higher an now i also adjusted my front spring pressure on skis to help it steer and not push. has anyone else moves theirs an if so what changed.

Sled model?

cant believe i forgot to wrote that, 2014 sr viper xtx with 141 skid.

The 2014 XTX's should have the front of the skid in the top hole. I have a 2014 and a 2016 XTX. In 2016 they changed the design of the skid, and because of the change, the front of the skid had to go in the bottom hole, or it would rub when you hit a bump. The 2014 works great with the front of the skid in the top hole, and I don't believe that there would be any benefit to changing it.

i wonder what they changed in the 2016 model?

If you search the old threads on the XTX from late 2015 when the 2016's first came out, you will find a lot of discussion about it. I think that the conclusion was that there was a "change in the geometry" of the skid. All I know is that when I took delivery of my brand new 2016, the front of the skid was in the upper hole, and when I took my first ride, there was a terrible loud scraping noise and vibration on every little bump. Luckily, I read the threads on this board, and I took the sled back to the dealer, telling him to put the front of the skid in the lower hole. He didn't believe me, but did it anyway. It wasn't long before the dealer was setting up all his XTX's that way. Just one more example of this board having incredibly valuable information, and making life easier and better for us Yamaha owners.
