2020 Viper hard starting

I never use the kill switch. This is the second 1049cc for me, and I've only ever used the key. I could be doing it wrong, but it works for me...
I never use the kill switch either on my 6000 or 7000 and have never had a problem

rb2001, Have you found a cure for your hard start issue yet?Just curious what you tried so far and if anything worked for you.

Not yet. Unfortunately I don't have my sled where I live. But will be near it today and report back

these sleds always start like crap compared to a Vector. They also hunt more when idling and just dont run as nice. The Vector is also faster AND uses less fuel .the reason for this is the Vector is Mitsubishi electronics tuned by Yamaha . The Viper is not a Mitsubishi ECU and its tuned by Cat. HIGHLY disappointing to everyone who's owned both. My 16 has the latest flash starts ok cold but awful when hot and will backfire . Learned the trick is to crack the throttle just a bit when hot starting to get a bit of air in and then starts much better...... People have been begging Yamaha for a Vector ECU and sensors in the Viper since the sled was introduced. One member here switched the entire motor and electronics into a Viper from a Nytro

So if I changed the electronics to a vector it would run better?

So when I got up to the sled I instantly put the battery tender on the sled. I let it set for 2-3 hours before I touched anything. I went out unplugged the tender. Sled started like a champ. Ice cold in enclosed trailer ice box. Possibly just a weak battery. Not sure but was happy it started just fine.

In general all the batteries nowadays are junk unless you buy an aftermarket high quality battery. It’s very important to keep the battery 100% charged at all times.

Most of the issues with Viper starting problems that Ive seen and read about have been weak batteries or the throttle cable needing adjusting.
