Just to get started my reverse has stopped working 3 times. I have taken the sled to my dealer for my issues and they have done a great job and fixed it each time and kept me riding with no down time. This is just to find out what everybody else is experiencing out there.

1st time 2006-2007 later part of riding season sled went in for reverse not working. The ECU Unit was replaced and that fixed reverse problem. It would also fix cold start issue. Sled ran great for the rest of the season.

2nd time 2007-2008 begining of riding season sled went in for reverse not working. The dealer found loose wire in harness and that fixed reverse problem.

3rd time 2007-2008 Sled went for 2 months after wiring harness fix and at the end of the season it quit again. Talked with dealer and will drop off before next riding season. Dropped sled off in October 2008 and they found another ECU Unit bad and replaced wiring harness. Only time will tell if it holds up, let me also say the YES warranty and Yamaha has covered everything to date but I do hope this is resolved before warranty is up in November 2009.

Let me hear of your issues, again my dealer and Yamaha have been great. Just want to know who else has had this many problems.

Illl
be gitting mine back tomorrow hopefully. Locked between forward and reverse, Wouldnt move. Dealer said some of the relays were bad. Thats the only problem I have had with mine as far as reverse.

Update

Well it appears my Dealer finally fixed my reverse issue, they have been great. After many conversations with the Yamaha folks the problem was the Throttle Positioning Sensor. It was sensing something in the positioning or idle to not allow it to shift into reverse.

They changed everything in this thing main wiring harness, ecu, relays, shifting fork and reverse body assembly, reverse motor, pod. The dealer was pulling his hair out on this issue. A word too the wise if your reverse is intermittenly not working it probably is not mechanical but electronic.

One of the other things that helps is to turn sled off and recycle key and allow fuel pump to completely cycle before starting. This allows system to go through full check of sensors and system. I will update for long term success.
