317MILES ON LTX

I use Volcom snowboard gear. Very functional, movement is excellent, articulated knees, gusset in crotch, avalanche beacon in Jacket. Durable too. Never liked snowmobile clothing.

Also Klim was the first to do the layering system how everyone is doing it!

By that logic we should all be riding a Polaris. "First" doesn't mean better.

I love my Klim gear !
I just like starting poop ?

I respect that ;)!
lol

But I don't think there is anything much better than Klim!

Klim makes a quality product, no doubt. The question of "better" enters the conversation when we talk Gore Tex vs other ePTFE membranes. That's where Klim loses the battle. Gore is, however, the ptfe juggernaut and they love to throw their weight around by working to prevent competition... there's lots of good data on this from other industries much larger than the SMB apparel industry.

Either way, it's all better gear than non ptfe-based gear (CastleX/FXR/ETC.)

Il add to this I'm drinking the klim cool aid other than the helmet Theyr stuff rocks

That's why I like MF... you won't see every 3rd person wearing it out on the trails (yet).. it's the next big thing!

Funny thing is that was a big reason why Klim took off.. the exclusivity of it and it was WAY more comfortable than traditional gear... not to mention did a much better job keeping you dry. Dry = warm.

I'm passionate about the brands I use.. but I totally respect the reasons other people use the gear they do... just want to spread the word when I find stuff that REALLY works for me. ;)!

Me too and Klim really works for me and gortex works , moto fist is the new one coming out but it may not be the next big thing but maybe , I had free ride pants that where 6 years old and my but got alittle wet called them and they sent me new ones so they back what they sell so I'm sticking with them

Yep, both brands have lifetime warranties against leakage. I used to wear Klim until I found something that keeps me drier/warmer ;)!

I use to have reima , and they use gortex and then tried some other stuff that they said will keep you dry , I think it was reima tec or something like that but anyways there not around anymore not sure why but maybe that reima tec didn't work they way they thought

Good luck with the MF ;)!

Scott bought Reima and killed the brand. Scott introduced snowmobile gear in the US a few years ago (only other snow apparel company to have GoreTex licensing in the USA) and decided not to continue with the segment for this year because they just couldn't do enough volume nor did the brand sell very well. It was actually very nice gear however poorly marketed and thus no retail pull through. Scott's proprietary PU membrane technology called Tri-phase (aka Reimatec lol) is a PU membrane aka a "wet system".

Polyurethane (PU) is breathable/water and wind proof but not nearly to the extent that an ePTFE membrane is.... except PU repels contaminates (oil from skin) where eptfe membranes do not which results in pore clogging and ultimately failure. This is how Gore Tex was born. They laminated a very thin film of PU to an eptfe membrane to gain oleophobacy and drastically improved breathability. The limitation with Gore is the PU laminate that still makes it a wet system. You must build a micro jungle in your suit to fully saturate the PU membrane then revaporize before the water can be pushed through the eptfe membrane. This is how eVent was born. Instead of using PU, the scientists discovered a way to coat the millions of individual pores of the eptfe membrane with a teflon-like product thereby protecting the membrane from contamination/clogging resulting in uninhibited venting of your sweat vapors. Unlike Gore where your sweat vapor must condense back to liquid in order to permeate the PU membrane and then back to vapor to permeate the eptfe membrane, eVent allows for direct venting while being just as water/wind proof. Military testing has shown it to be up to 200 times more breathable than Gore Tex!

Yes I'm a nerd and know way too much about this stuff but it's expensive so I made sure I did my homework! Lol

Are you in the military ?
I have some buddy's in the military that are always telling me that stuff , I'm more of an engine guy myself ....
