Well it seems like the season is winding down. Overall I have been happy with the perfomance except the following:
-fuel effiency
-wind protection/options
-handwarmer issue
-ski performance
-idler wheel issue
On the other side of the fence, I had no isssues that pulled me off the trail causing major down time. 4,089 miles says alot with no major down time. That said I understand Yamaha is looking into some of the issues listed above. I hope they look into the fuel efficency aspects as well. When cars went to EFI the mileage increased dramatically, not so compared with my 03 RX-1. :4STroke: :yam:

I think the fuel milage suffered because the Apex is making 13-15 more HP and has a slightly more agressive gear reduction. You have to give up something for the HP ;)!

Do you have any estimates on your average fuel usage? I'd be interested as fuel consumption was one the primary motivators for my switch to the Attak. (coming off a gas pig SwitchBus 800)

Thanks in advance,
Keith M.

FormulaPro, for the short time I had my Attak I got 15 MPG's. The guy I sold it to said it improved slightly over that now that the engine and everything else has loosened up.

I didn't baby my Attak. Maybe the longer skid simply hooked better where the 121's spin more...............

15 mpgs... that's more than a buck and half miles per tank.. good enough!

Thanks Mighty... appreciate the response!

On my Apex-er I got between 14.5 and 16.9. Not as good as my RX-1, but has a lot less miles on as well. Overall I was happy with that.

I got probably between 15-18 mpg depending on what type of snow I was riding in.

Just wondering if anyone was able to go the distance of 150 miles per tank without running out? (us) I was unable to do so. 180 mile range per tank (us) is hard for me to believe, but congrats if you were able to do so! ;)!

The longest I went up in northern Ontario was 130 miles between gas stops. I still had about two gallons left in the tank. I used about two litres more than my wife with her 05 600 SDI and three litres less than a 800 HO and 800 HO power tech. Two other guys who were riding 06 600 SDI's used more fuel than me on the entire trip. I'm pretty happy with those results. I think you will find that the Apex will do very well compared to other sleds in your riding group. The problem with trying to figure out MPG's is there are waaay too many variables. The conditions and how you use your throttle and the kind of trails your on all have huge effects on fuel mileage. To put a number on it is very hard. What I find the best way to gauge fuel mileage is compare your sled to the people you ride with. This way you are riding in the same conditions at the same rate of speed. I think if you do that you will find the Apex is pretty good on fuel. ;)!

Interesting indeed, thanks for sharing your results!

My low fuel indicator seems to come on with about 50 miles to go, have pushed it hard and never got less than 15 mpg. During break in time I was going 50-60 mph and did get 20 my first couple tanks.
