Hello guys , Im new to this side , but i just bought a apex gt today , I have never riden a 4 stroke sled , It looks like im going to need a new rear spring , im 280 lbs , but are there any other little set up things i need to do before hitting the snow ?? i read they like to lift the ski alittle , limiter strap or soften front shocks ?? and will my flex skis from a viper bolt on or do i need new hardware ... thanks guys ...im your newest question guy..sorry

:bling

Just bolt on those flexis. You can drop the front spring preload, tighten the straps, and adjust the CONTROL ROD to lower transfer. You also have the option of an aftermarket swaybar, which is available in 12 or 13mm (stock 11).

Note that you really do have to get used to the sled's handling before you can really say you need to adjust it (except maybe for the big spring that you WILL need). It responds VERY DIFFERENTLY to the throttle than any 2-stroke.

Welcome to the world of 4-strokes :4STroke:
Where did you buy your sled from; US-27, Nelsons or maybe 4 seasons?

Welcome aboard!! You'll love the sled and never look back. Like Lazy said, you should put 100 to 150 miles on it before you really start changing things. Its a totally different animal. Don't worry these guys love questions.

Hi and Welcome...
I did the 4-stroke thing last year and Im not looking back. From what I can tell, the 06 handling is different then my 05, but the guys on this site seem like good people. I live just n-w of Dewitt, so Im not to far from Bath.
Do you know 2 A.C. brothers that live just north of Bath ?
Good luck with your new sled...Gary.

The dealer should have never let you out the door with the stock spring. You would think Yamaha would clue there dealers in - or the dealers would learn for themselves - that the stock spring can't carry anyone who goes over 225 with gear on.

I'd try to get a real windshield asap. Get yourself a set of 05 hard idlers too, as yours will be gone soon. Dealer knows about it. At least should know.

well just got back from putting 550 miles on the new girl ...WOW what a sled , i need the fat boy spring , but besides that this thing flat out rocks , i did toast a couple bogie wheels but from what it sounds like its a normal thing and yami will fix it , besides that all i did was put on my flex skis and away we went , smoked a a/c 800 efi and carb sleds never could do that on the piped viper , i dont feel any ski lift after setting up the shocks , i rode HARD with three revs , two mxz's and two cats and as far as i can tell the sled hangs with any of them in the twisties , i do need to ride it alittle harder then the viper to stay with the leader , but it will hang with any of them ....I LOVE IT !!!!
